Hot Weather Complainer
Huh? I didn’t know Marky was planning to run a marathon in 2023. That would entertain me.
Seeing a guy you constantly say is no good at marathons beat your best time by 10+ minutes? I have to admit, I'd find that entertaining too
In other news, I went for a run yesterday. It was about 25C with high sun at halfway, conditions I generally struggle with, but by sticking to the correct HR zones for easy and 2 short aerobic blocks, I got through it pretty much unscathed. It only took about 2 years for the advice of the experienced marathoners to stick...

Christchurch Marathon April 21, 2024
I am happy in a place that calls people out for doing stupid shit in training or racing. That’s the good kind of spicy. I am less interested when things devolve into personal sniping and political arguments. Also, like Steve, I do not come close to qualifying for a “sub-3” thread.
Dave
Nothing special
+1. But I suspect Steve is going to be much closer to sub3 after his next outing in ChCh .
Sick and tired. A little.
Mmmm Bop

Sorry...9 minutes.
1:27 half - 3:35 full. Yikes.
Josh - now you sound like Mikkey! I definitely hope I'm closer than I am now...
Really, what's your problem, pal?
“Pal”
I think pal is the wrong word considering that I have absolutely no idea who you are.
In other non running related news…I’m pleased to say that Tyson has been a very very god boy and hasn’t pulled down the Christmas tree….yet.
Differences of opinion are good, and healthy. Insults are not.
Mikkey, if you want to troll or be "edgy", then just bear in mind that if you dish it out, you also have to be prepared to take it, and if you start getting all defensive then you're doing it wrong.
Also you can't just shut it down with "look over here, a dog wearing a jumper". You opened the can of worms. Also, no self-respecting dog should ever be seen wearing a jumper.

"CONSISTENCY IS KING"
JMac I just noticed this, you want to get a Moose Mug and then ride into the sunset? Does that mean what I think it means? That sounds mad depressing. Did the doc tell you you got a year or two left to live or somethin? I say die by the sword!
Gee, excuse me, never intended to. Must be the fact that English is not my mother tongue. I wanted to express my sincere conviction that you'll be a lot faster in ChCh than you were in Melbourne.
“Pal” I think pal is the wrong word considering that I have absolutely no idea who you are.
Buddy?
Ha, no it wasn't an insult. Before Melbourne he was backing me to go much faster than I thought I could. Hopefully you're both correct in the long run.
Also, Tyson looks a lot like he wants to take that tree down.
Reminded me of this Simpsons classic tbh.
Steve- I have no doubt you'll be improving in leaps and bounds as you keep racing the distance.
MMerk- Don't worry about JMac- he threatens to quit but he'll be back. It's a sickness and he is infected
Mark- I felt a little injured by your comment...I just broke out my rat terrier's winter wardrobe which include many sweaters including an "ugly christmas" sweater. She's 15 pounds of fury and tries to prove it by fighting rottwielers and pitbulls on every walk.
I had a nice track session with 10x 30 seconds hard 30 seconds followed by a set of 200's. I switched to the 200s because I found it annoying to listen for the "beep" at 30 seconds whereas 200 followed by 100 recovery appealed to my orderly brain. Running fast is starting to suck less but part of me is longing for the high mileage again.
5K 18:36 (2023), 10K 39:40 (2022), 1/2 1:24:37 (2023), full 2:58:36 (2015)
But that's outside - not under a tree in the living room, right?
Oh well, I guess that's it for now. I'm not going to run a marathon this year anyway .
