Forums >Health and Nutrition>ITBS and road running, is camber the cause?
PRESTOALOE
This is me too:
I go through spells of the same thing so I make it a point to switch sides of the road whenever feasible. Definitely seems to help.
I've suffered from this very same problem a few times before, and it's compounded with various increases in mileage. For street based races I try to stay in the middle of the road out of paranoia.
I fought ITBS and I think the camber exacerbated it though the main cause was likely my form. Started switching during runs to even it out. Luckily I don't spend a lot of time on heavily traveled roads and a lot of my course is now sidewalks.
I only got rid of it when I took up ice hockey. Skating strengthens the groin/inside of the legs enough that it eliminated the ITBS imbalance. No problems since.
