it's the eponomy (Read 632 times)

    I was born with an extra thumb on my left hand. And my right hand thumb is deformed. Nothing debilitating or limiting in any way. But definitely funny.

    Come all you no-hopers, you jokers and rogues
    We're on the road to nowhere, let's find out where it goes

      I think you've validated my point in your first sentence, you say it's a derogatory word.

      Nub is not a derogatory word for stump. It just roughly means the same thing. It's just a play on words. I suspect that had the teacher heard that, she might have have found it hilarious herself. A great many people with physical impediments are quite willing and capable at laughing at themselves and the peculiarities of life that may have caused their physical difference. And I submit, that those that aren't, are likely people not worth knowing. I'm not condoning being mean spirited but rather suggest that one shouldn't take life so seriously that you can't laugh at mother natures little tricks. This is coming from someone who lived my whole life till he died in my late 20s, with a dad who had no use of his legs.

      Kittenkat, you aren't going to win any friends by being so aggressive. I know Brits are known for being a tad stiff, but try to lighten up.

      huh?

          If some people who are disabled find some humour in that in dark times with close friends and family, then I think that's fine, healthy even. I don't think it's ok for strangers to insult them in the supposed name of humour, I just don't. Also we don't call stand in teachers over here substitutes and I've never heard the term nub before. I was never going to get it.

          I don't look for friends on the Internet, I just speak as I find and enjoy conversation. If people like me they do, if they don't they don't.

          Please re-read what I wrote more carefully. I said nub is NOT a derogatory word. You skipped right over the NOT part of my sentence. Which  of course changes the meaning to the opposite of my intention.

                    "She's Nubs" by NOFX

                    It's kinda hard to wear high heels, or slip on banana peels
                    How does she get in and out of tubs
                    I hope she dont get mad, I hope she thinks this song is good not bad
                    Cause we think that she's totally rad, she's nubs.

                    No fingers, no toes, she doesn't own elbows,
                    No phalanges no knobby knees to knock
                    She don't need knuckles or hands to go see punk rock bands
                    She's always in the stands, she's nubs
                    She can't pick up a phone, she can't get dressed alone
                    She's got no funny bone, she's nubs
                    No shoes for feet but we sure do think she's neat, she's nubs, she's nubs, she's nubs.

                    I asked her if she want a drink, I asked her if she liked Toronto,
                    I asked her to go out to the bar, but all she said was no thanks, no and no

                    It was time for us to leave, so I grabbed and shook her sleeve
                    and told her I'd see her at the next club she got into a pack
                    and some guy put her on his back, she said goodbye and kinda waved her stub

                    She's got beauitful eyes, and breasts regular size,
                    but without calves and thighs, she's nubs
                    It's hard to give good head or get tied to a bed,
                    when all you've got is a body and head, she's nubs

                    She's nubs, She's nubs, She's nubs...
                    Oh she may not walk the walk, and she may not like to talk
                    But boy she sure knows how to rock, she's nubs.

                      I'm not sure I understand the thread entirely, but after seeing the NOFX lyrics I was inspired to post more.  They are geniuses...and the music ain't bad either.  Sorry if this is off topic.

                      Liza and Louise

                      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                      Liza's had enough of men
                      She said she won't get burned again
                      She said they don't know how to fuck
                      Her last boyfriend's a schmuck
                      Shared with her a nice disease
                      He kept her passive on her knees
                      'Til one day she took his car
                      And drove into the city
                      Liza had put down a few
                      When she met this girl named Lou
                      Who convinced her to go home with her
                      She said, "My name's Louise
                      Now will you take off your clothes please?
                      I want to take you to the moon and back
                      So get on your back"
                      With a flick of the tongue, she made her scream
                      She made her laugh, she made her dance
                      She was happy for the first time
                      And you know she wanted more
                      Now with her legs spread wider
                      She needed to have Louise inside her
                      She said, "I'll never forget the first time
                      You kissed me, now I want you to fist me"
                      Louise didn't need a second invitation
                      She knew just what to do
                      Yeah, she knew just what to do
                      Liza had cum a few times before
                      But she had never even seen the door
                      Into the world of pleasures of the flesh
                      She felt just like 16
                      And her life before now was a dream
                      Or even a nightmare that's over and done
                      Just like warm healing rays, shining from the sun
                      She made her scream, she made her laugh
                      She made her dance, she was happy for
                      The first time and you know she wanted more
                      You know she wanted more, you know she wanted more
