Josh Wasn't trying to argue. I just think wcrunner deserves a certain amount of respect in my humble opinion.

More than just a certain amount. Maybe there's a misunderstanding between you and me - my calling M "my buddy" is a reference to something that may have happened before you started posting here.

Mark - Whose age-graded performances? I somehow don't get your question. WCRunner mentioned his and I don't care about M's.

RP - I gladly would. If only I could ... . Good luck with whatever you're doing!

Don't hurry - next AG will start 2026

RP is up to something epic. Details later.

I’m guessing that he is wearing a hydration vest and eating some sausages every 3 hours.  Am I right?

        Quesadillas, not sausages.

Qualifications: I like to run. In Florida. In the summer. At noon.

Last race: June 29, Hasenheide Parkrun, 22:19. A bit disappointing time, but it was still a fun event.

Is “M’s referring to me? Seriously, you only post when I give an opinion. How about you post something positive rather than being a troll.

I gave marathon advice to mmerkle and MickJogger because I like them both and want them to do well at the marathon distance and feel I have a bit of experience and knowledge that will help them.

Okay children, might be time for someone to drop a weekly.

Mikkey - Could be a compliment to both of you!

Josh, need2tri - Good to see you posting, be good to see you more often on some different topics.

JMac - Have seen a few runs on Strava, how is it feeling?

Very keen to see what epic achievement RP is about to unlock.

My week - Another solid one, without such a long run.  I used my planned race shoes, the Endorphin Pros which have felt magic for the last 2 half-marathons.  My coach said they are half and below shoes for him because they feel terrible after 70 minutes (heh) and I discovered for myself that at marathon pace and after an hour or so, they are no good.  My right foot got sore and toes felt crampy (which happened towards the end of the ChCh half) and then in the cool down it got to the point where every step was a countdown to get them off my feet.  I went from thinking maybe they aren't my marathon shoe to being 100% certain within about 10 minutes.  Coach has always been a big fan of Saucony Tempus (especially after 30km) which I used for Selwyn last year and now use for every workout so I've ordered a new pair for the race.

So 2 weeks until race day.  I'm way fitter than I've ever been before any of my previous marathons (or any race).  So I'm going to try and be positive as I head towards race day and not focus on the previous attempts.  I'll catch up with the mental skills coach on Friday.

Steve - glad to hear everything’s coming together for you! For most people the marathon takes multiple attempts to get right. I know at some point you’ll crush one; all signs certainly point to this time being it. I’m sure you’ve talked about it, but I don’t recall—is it a pretty flat course? And I know they can’t predict the weather two weeks out, but what’s typical?

                              Dave

                                Thanks Dave.

Yep the course is flat with some very minor false flats in places.  It's a 2 lap course and the "uphill" false flats are in the first half of the lap.

The expected weather is cold, somewhere between -5 and 10C (23 to 50F).  I'm okay with anywhere in that range although about 5C (40F) would be perfect.  Worst case scenario is a southerly storm with strong winds and rain/sleet/snow which would require some adjustments to the clothes I wear on the day, for at least the first half but the chance of this is pretty low.  Most likely is calm and cold.
