    Good luck Houston Racers!!

The men’s lineup for London is going to be fun to watch!! I hope it’s a good race.

Olympic years make the major marathons interesting. Especially for those doing the trials, a spring, and a fall marathon.

    Road Mile: 5:19 (2017), 5k: 17:09 (2021), 10k: 35:54 (2021), HM: 1:21:55 (2020), M: 2:53:18 (2021)

      Good luck Andres and DW!

Ace, I agree about London; now that Kenny is in we will get the epic Kipchoge vs. Kenny race even ahead of the Olympics, where it is likely they will battle again. My money is on Kipchoge but after his run at Berlin, Kenny showed he has still got it.

Speaking of elite racing, anyone notice the new road WR in the 10k? It's crazy how much that has dropped in recent years. 26:24 is only 7 seconds off Kenny's track WR. Just under 4:15 pace...insane.

      2:52:16 (2018)

      Mmmm Bop

The Kipchoge “Sub 2” was boring and a bit of a joke as it was so artificial.

Who would I like to win London?  Bekele. 👍

        5k - 17:53 (4/19)   10k - 37:53 (11/18)   Half - 1:23:18 (4/19)   Full - 2:50:43 (4/19)

        Marky_Mark_17

Mikkey - I thought the sub-2 with Kipchoge was cool in a 'glorified science experiment' kind of way.  It certainly wasn't an actual race for a multitude of reasons.  When someone pulls it off in an actual race - that will be impressive.

Me - got the win in the Run Devonport 10k this morning!! They start the 5k, 10k and 15k at the same time (it's a 5k course) and two guys boosted off early but I knew one of them was doing 5k and was just hoping the other guy was too.  Not especially fast (34:41) but it was quite a slow course with a couple of hills and around 2k on trail.  I'll do a short RR later, but the legs were a bit sluggish (with 75km already this week!) to start and then kinda warmed up at about the 4km mark so I actually ran a negative split, which was nice.

          M: weights

          T: 14.1km easy

          W: 16.2km easy

          T: 32km incl. 2x5km @HMP

          F: 6.2km recovery

          S: 7.4km with strides

          S: 12.5km incl. Run Devonport 10km race (34:41)

          Total: 88.4km / 55 miles

I'm on holiday snowboarding in BC from Tuesday until Fri 7th Feb so the mileage is going to drop back a little.  I'm hoping I can keep it up around the 70km / 45 miles mark though, which should be enough to maintain fitness but also freshen the legs up before hitting things hard once we get home.

I honestly think Kipchoge will win but I think it will be in a breakaway 2 miles out and it will be a little anticlimactic (London not Olympics).

Mark - congrats on the win. Setting off the weekend right for our other racers.

Best of luck to Andres (and DW). Really looking forward to tracking you guys, I think you're both in for a great day. A little breezy but perfect temps.

London - I don't watch a lot of marathons from start to finish, but this one I will. Too bad Mikkey is running and can't watch! I have no idea who I want to win. All that I really ask for is that Bekele is still in it with 5k to go. If that's the case, it will have lived up to the hype.

My top 3 prediction for London is....

                1st - Bekele

                2nd - Slammin

                3rd - Kipchoge

Marky - Great racing and congrats on the win!  Wearing Next % shoes with 2k on trail must’ve felt a bit unstable!

Finally got the damn tracking working, had to download the app. Don't race organizers realize that they're going to get more traffic on their site race day and build that into the specs???

Looks like Andres is through 35k. He's going to have to work hard to get sub 3 as he's slowing down in the 2nd half after coming through at 1:25

Wow I thought the wheels were falling off (35 to 40k was 7:36 pace) but he somehow picked up pace in the last 2k to get sub 3 at 2:59:24!

Not entirely sure what went on out there today. I thought my pace for the first have was reasonable. Things felt great. Clearly it was too fast. And the wheels came mostly off, but not all the way as I've been known to do in the past. I'll try to figure it out later.

Got to meet Darkwave so that was a lot of fun!

How was the weather? Having just done a 1:29 I couldn’t imagine a 1:25 in the first half of a 2:59 marathon. That’s some balls to the wall commitment.

Many of us aren't sure what the hell point you are trying to make and no matter how we guess, it always seems to be something else. Which usually means a person is doing it on purpose.

dwave: congrats on the AG placement in a huge race! Truly impressive.

andres: gutsy finish. Way to go! I’ll be honest, I was worried because I thought your goal was 2:40-something. So many goals to keep up with in here, I got them mixed up. Congrats on the sub-3!!

Was able to up the mileage again this week with no calf pain and only one day of tightness after a long PT session. Total of 25 easy miles. Will work a little on turnover next week and add some miles.
