Michigan never had Walter White, heh! You've really lived in some diverse places. CA sounds sorta dreamy, right now.

Yeah, I guess the little stretch of rapids in the Rifle River doesn't count as "white water", and the water at Tahquamenon Falls is anything but "white".
As for California, believe it or not, it was by far, my least favorite place to live (even though I lived in both SoCal and the Bay area); count your blessings you're in Michigan.

One day at a time
I love that photo!
Thanks! Now we just need that skinny kid to make use of his twiggy frame and massive lungs/ribcage. He's so friggin' lazy and it kills me. He'd be one hell of a distance runner/cyclist if he actually had the ambition to do so.
Give him time, he's still young! My son didn't get interested in distance running until the end of 8th grade, then he was unstoppable. Quite a few of his teammates didn't join the XC team until they were in 10th grade. Your son will find his niche!

Sweet!
It's great that your family shares biking together.
Ride on!
His school is K-8 and doesn't have XC, so it's not an option for him until HS. I'm hoping that in another year-and-a-half he'll be interested. His HS also has a tri club of some sort. The kids train for a spring tri about 90 minutes away. I think he'd really enjoy that, too. I don't see him ever doing any ball sports (even mild autism = sorta poor coordination and the communication aspect of team sports would be a big struggle for him, as well), so it's nice that our local HS has some great options for kids geared more towards solo/endurance pursuits.
Congrats, ZoomZoom. That's awesome!
Great photos.
Stay creative!

Congrats! That photo has me missing warmer weather.
Shipo, I've got Stuttgart on my list too. I graduated from Patch. I bet you've heard of it.
Yup, I've heard of it; I'd long since been out of the military (USMC) before I ended up in Stuttgart when I was working for Daimler, but I did follow some of the local Yankee goings-on via AFN and I bumped into a few folks stationed at Patch Barracks with kids at the Patch High School. Good times!
Daimler
Ah, I lived in Moehrigen less than a half mile from the big spinning hood ornament.
I lived in Neuffen and worked primarily in a satellite office in Leinfelden-Echterdingen. Funny thing, I was a contractor for MB-USA and then subcontracted to Daimler, and because of insurance regulations I was not allowed to drive any of the Mercedes-Benz cars reserved for the Americans, so they rented me a BMW; go figure.

Life is full of sacrifices.
Not dead. Yet.
What a great picture! You couldn't get those facial expressions any more perfect if you tried to do it a thousand times.
How can we know our limits if we don't test them?
