iPod cable organization (Read 631 times)

What do you do to keep your ipod organized? I have the Nike + system and I am synching regularly and have to have my cables etc handy but they get all tangled and are a mess laying around. I have a goal to be a neat organized person - Smile - but I'm not doing very well. Anyone got any tips?

I can't speak to the Nike+ setup, but I generally have about a thousand cables in my laptop bag and around my office. The best thing I've found for keeping them neat is to get a roll of velcro from home depot. It's like 8 bucks for 12 feet, and you can cut it into the lengths you need and wrap the cables together. If you buy the pre-cut ones in the electronics department, they are about 10x as expensive. My wife thinks I'm a little crazy. I use this stuff everywhere around our house now for anything that has a loose cord, extension cables, etc. Here it is on Lowe's website - in the local Lowe's it's in a weird little velcro section by the paint I believe. There are other options that look similar, but most of them have a sticky side which you don't want.

        Imminent Catastrophe

You can get a retractable headphone cord that's about the size of a thumb, I find it really handy. I got mine at Brookstone: http://www.brookstone.com/store/product.asp?pid=532804 You can also get a similar retractable ethernet cable. And I had a similar retractable iPod synch cable but it was for firewire, I haven't found one for USB yet. MTA: Look what I found... http://www.radtech.us/Products/CablesIpod.aspx

Leave it behind. Problem solves itself that way.
Check Unclutterer http://unclutterer.com I haven't figured out how to keep my coiled Sony headphone cord from getting all twisted together. Maybe I should ask google how to prevent this. Big grin
