Does anyone have any suggestions for preventing blisters? I'm training for the DC National Marathon (my first) at the end of March and have been getting really bad blisters on the arches of just one foot. I've been running with smartwool socks, so I think moisture is less of an issue than the friction. Any advice is much appreciated!

I had really bad heel blisters recently, and I fixed the problem by: - putting Bodyglide on my heels before I put on my socks - putting Engo patches inside my shoes Not a hint of a blister since. First, I got the blisters to heal by using special blister bandages -- they're totally worth it. Please note that I'm a very low mileage runner, so this might not work for you.

I know this sounds gross, but if you pop them, then it usually helps. I used to get blisters and after I popped them, they never came back.
