pain in calf during my run/walk (Read 33 times)

So I'm new to running, following the Couch to 5k program, in week 1.  Today was my 3rd day (not in a row), and I noticed some pain and tightness in my outer lower calf.  It wasn't debilitating or anything, and after I got home and took my shower I can't feel it anymore.  I"m just wondering if there's a stretch (or stretches) I should be doing?  I don't want this to continue and become a problem.  I run VERY slowly...my point being I can't really slow down anymore and still run.  I'm 90 lbs overweight so I'm taking it as slow as I can.  Thanks!

Side question: what are you wearing on your feet? It could be that your shoes lack support, esp if you are wearing older shoes.

They are ASICS running shoes, don’t know the model offhand but I can tell you later.  They are very comfortable and new...I’ve worn them 4 times.
