Keen - good luck at the new job!
Piwi - You have been incredibly consistent.
RP - I remember forumite Brent Hansen would play video games and watch basketball while on the treadmill.
Perhaps Keen works his spreadsheets while running on the treadmill
Steve - Traitor!!! . I guess there won’t be many runners on flats soon.
Jmac - It’s great to hear, those pictures on Strava sure look beautiful.
Mick - hahaha Renzi speaking English. That reminds me of that cartoon of the Italian man who went to Malta .
Man, does Renzi have a punchable face.
You are the second person to follow my incredibly good 30 line plan. I'm sure there will be thousands soon

I'm glad I have so many references in New Zealand. Have you guys heard of a game called geoguessr? You get dropped in a random street view of the world and have to guess where you are. I was very proud of myself for getting New Zealand the other night. I didn't get exactly (it was a suburb of Auckland, I guess Mark would have spotted it right away), but I guessed it by a) driving on the WRONG side of the road b) sun was in the north c) fairly hilly d) green grass and e) Nathan Jones spotted (okay that last one isn't true).
Mick - forgot to congratulate you on GME (assuming you held it), it's going up like crazy again!

Flavio: Renzi is cool. I hope he gets re-elected! I have never been to Malta, but they say it's worth a trip!
Jmac: I bought GME at 60ish and sold at 130 last week; thought that was a great price. Well turns out it wasn't Anyways it was good enough for me, I immediately removed GME from the watchlist. I don't want to see how it hits 1000 bucks. But happy for all the diamond hands out there. I did sell AMC today, they usually move in parallel. And today it shot up and that's when I got out. Don't get me wrong, I don't always sell higher than what I paid. But trading is not as honest as Strava
HM: 1:47 (9/20) I FM: 3:53:11 (9/23)
2024 Goals: run a FM & HM + stay healthy!
Mick - Malta is glorious. It's got lovely beaches, a lot of sunshine, a lot of history, a bizarre language which is a mix of English, Italian and Arabic, Italian food. We were there on our anniversary, so we went to a local restaurant Legligin it had a tasting menu, one of my best meals ever.
There's a nice trip to Gozo island too. If you go there tell me "gozo" means "cum" in Portuguese slang, I'm sure they will be thrilled
Me - Last big workout today. It was supposed to be 40 minutes T but I decided beforehand to make it 30 minutes T instead.
The risk reward equation was not favorable for the full workout. I've got the fitness.
I need to avoid injuries and physical overexertion.
10 days to go. Better bubble wrap myself.
The part of not contacting other humans to avoid catching a cold has been made easy for us given we use the self service cashier at the supermarket and all the family is on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. Restaurants are closed and we can't leave town.
I better schedule that napoletan pizza next week cause taper madness will be strong this time.
Nice job Flavio. You have a great feeling for your fitness so good call on the long tempo run. Those 40 minute ones are pretty hardcore. Cum Island sounds...interesting
I paced a mate in a 5k TT today as he's training with no idea of his ability. It took a bit to convince him to do it and he showed up with a bad sounding cold and asked for 4.20 km pace. Off we go and we were hitting 4 min km flat which he maintained till the end. At least he has a solid benchmark now to train off.

piwi way to push the pace. I did something similar on a training run. New guys mentioned at the end of an 8 miler he didn’t think he could do it. Next day he said his goal was to do it under an hour. Off we went and he picked up everything I put down. He was training for Judo so I told him ‘3rd round’ when there was about 15 minutes left and I knew he was going to die, or finish in under an hour.
Many of us aren't sure what the hell point you are trying to make and no matter how we guess, it always seems to be something else. Which usually means a person is doing it on purpose.

Temp/dew point are both 60F/15.5C. Not a lot of wind, but this is a multi-loop course so it would be a wash even if there was a high wind. Slight chance of more rain, but probability of that diminishes through when I'll be running, so no worries.
Time to go have some fun!

Everyone's gotta running blog; I'm the only one with a POOL-RUNNING blog.
And...if you want a running Instagram where all the pictures are of cats, I've got you covered.

Keen - Hope you did well. Not much wind seems like a good thing to me, even on a looped course. Heavy wind slows you down more when it's against you than it helps when it's with you. Like uphills on a looped course costing you more time than the downhills save you.
I had just enough occasional and fleeting groin soreness to stay on the treadmill this week, but I got in decent time/distance. Took Friday off to take my son to South Carolina to look at a university that has offered him admission. The university says it doesn’t allow visitors because of covid, so we did a lot of driving around campus and only got out a few times during the afternoon and tried to look like we belonged. Walked around more at night. Today I tried out my new easy day shoes, Reebok Symmetros. Softest shoes I’ve ever owned, and fairly light for their size. Felt very high up, though. They were fine going slowly on the treadmill, but It'd take some time to get used to turning in them at tempo pace or faster.
Sun - about 11 miles on treadmill (1:39 @~9-minute effort)
Mon - ~11 TM (1:39) easy in about-to-be-retired Lunar Tempo 2s, knee sore
Tues - ~11 TM (1:39)
Weds - off, knee stiff
Thurs - ~14 miles TM (2:06), slow
Fri - off snooping around university
Sat - ~11 TM (1:39) in new Symmetros
Total - about 58 miles worth of time/effort

Keen awesome job on that half. Was the course a little long ?
My week
That prediction was wrong by some 2 minutes. I second Steve in that this was a 1:24. Great stuff congrats. Race Report!!!
In New Zealand Keens 21.6 kms would be good enough for a legit marathon distance
Keen - hope it went well!
Piwi - nice week, looks like you are feeling better again?
James - decent volume considering those niggles. Hope the university reconnaissance was productive.
Me - biggest week so far this year and the highlight was definitely Tuesday's workout, which was a 14km over/under workout averaging around 3:30/km for the overs and 3:50/km for the unders. It was Vaporfly-assisted but nice to feel like you are almost recovering while still holding up 3:50/km pace. I paid for it for a couple days after but it was totally worth it.
edit: According to Smashrun, this was my 100th week over 50 miles / 80km.
3,000m: 9:07.7 (Nov-21) | 5,000m: 15:39 (Dec-19) | 10,000m: 32:34 (Mar-20)
10km: 33:15 (Sep-19) | HM: 1:09:41 (May-21)* | FM: 2:41:41 (Oct-20)

"CONSISTENCY IS KING"
Piwi - Kudos on the pacing duties.
Keen - Nice result that course looks like it was long.
Your power predictor is off.
Garmin on the other hand is telling me I’m in 1h12 half shape so I guess yours is better
me - My week. Caught a bit of cold rain today but continued running. When the hail started though I headed straight home.
Just got to do the hardest part of all. Arriving safe and sane on "race" day. One week to go.
I am on a roll - >50km and still not injured (jinx). Covid-19: the Swiss government has released a time table and I am now looking at June as vaccination. I so look forward to July - most likely this will be the first vacation in a long time and likely "Cali" (I know locals hate that acronym). Btw where is Rune, poor guy got injured and is still missing in action (have not even seen any cycling nor swimming activities).
Darkwave - what is Yoga Streaming? Are you the instructor, or the participant? How long, what style etc.
Keen - great race performance! What powermeter do you use, and if I may ask: how do you like your footpod? I am thinking of getting one but the Stryd pod runs at $299....
Flavio: when are you posting another video, your followers are thirsty for content! Will check out Malta and ask for the restaurant recommendation. Are you guys officially back in lockdown?
