New Garmin Forerunner 235 Questions (Read 122 times)

I am not a rookie but I sure feel like it, I just received my new Forerunner 235 today from Amazon and possibly for a stupid reason decided to plug it in first before turning it on. It was off, dead whatever...now it is frozen with the logo on the screen and it won't even turn off. I'm not sure if it is dead and I just need to let it charge for 2 hours or whatever, or if I should request an exchange  Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

You could try doing a hard reset on it.  Hold the power button down for 15 seconds to turn it off, then hold the power button again to turn it back on.

I'll try that, otherwise, I have no idea what else to do but send it back for an exchange. I wish I hadn't just plugged it in before starting it up, but maybe that wasn't it at all....

Well, it sort of worked.... except I have to keep it plugged in just to turn it on. It's barely on 1% battery..... so I guess I'll leave it plugged in, I don't like that it doesn't show a bar or like the 220 does when you charge it and the "charge bar" goes around the screen clockwise, but I guess I'll just let it charge...

I doubt the fact you plugged it in was the problem. Pretty sure that’s exactly what I did when I got my 235! More likely it’s just a really low battery.

If the hard reset worked I’d leave it plugged in to charge it and then look into watch faces. I have one that shows the percentage of the battery life that is nice and convenient.

Many of us aren't sure what the hell point you are trying to make and no matter how we guess, it always seems to be something else. Which usually means a person is doing it on purpose.

Also, make sure you’re charging it through the adaptor plugged into a wall outlet. Mine, sometimes, doesn’t charge when connected via USB to my laptop.

I have a 235 that is 3 or 4 years old and it has a battery bar across the top of the 'home screen' face. Maybe it is a setting somewhere.
