Garmin 305 won't charge... and solution (Read 632 times)

My 305 went dead. The battery wouldn't change. I'm out of warranty so I thought I was either going to pay Garmin for repairs or buy a new one, or possibly upgrading to the 405 or the new 310xt when it comes out. So I called tech support and they suggested that the contacts might need to be cleaned, which I could do with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol. I didn't have any rubbing alcohol, but I looked at a bottle of Listerine and checked the ingrediants and ... hmm... 25% alcohol. So I tried it and it works! The 305 is charging fine.

You gotta love fixes like that. I had a faulty power adapter the other day. I read somewhere that the trick is to slam it on the ground. So, I tried it, and it worked. And of course, there's always the classic
Nintendo Fix
, which apparently works on some iPods.
