Short Races in Philadelphia (Read 497 times)

I'm planning to visit some friends in Philadelphia sometime over April/May and I was hoping to pick a weekend that would coincide with a short race (10K or less), preferably in the city. Is there anyone from that neck of the woods who might have some suggestions? Thanks.

Yeah, sure. Pretzel City Sports There's a calendar there, you can see if there's anything that meets your fancy. I don't know about in the city, but there's some outlying areas. 20th is the Penn Relays Distance Classic. May 4th is the Broad Street Run.

There is also: http://www.runtheday.com/findarace.shtml These races are more suburban (maybe 15 - 20 minutes outside the city). Most are 5k's.
The run the day website posted above is a good one for local philly suburban races. One of the Philly races it lists is the ovarain cancer run on 4/26. I ran that last year. It was a well organized smaller race on a somewhat difficult course. I know you said 10K or less, but I suggest you give some thought to the Broad Street 10 miler. It's a big, fun, very well organized race on a very fast course. I think it's on May 4th this year.

Im in the Philly area so let me know if you decide on any and maybe I can give you some more info /tips about the race if im running it or familiar with it!

I know I'll be running Broad Street. If you plan on running it try to plan for an early train ride up the Broad Street line. 3 years ago there was a big delay with the trains and a lot of people were late to the start. And anybody who has run it before knows that the start line is crazy. Almost 15,000 people with no corrals Good Luck to all Broad Street runners Burke
