Good Bad & The Monkey
I'll be driving from San Fran to Capitola morning of Nov. 14, hoping to grab a trail run or hike (or both) lasting a few hours, either with mountains or ocean views. Any suggestions?

Well, you've got several State parks and over 20 open space preserves between SF and Capitola. If you want a challenging trail run, Montara Mountain in Pacifica off Highway 1 has some great views. You can see the Farallon Islands out in the Pacific (assuming it is clear).
There's also the open space preserves, most along Skyline (Highway 35), that may have Docent led hikes (check the calendar). The views from Black Mountain are unique in that you can see SF, south bay, San Jose and a bit of Half Moon Bay all from the same spot. You get there from the Monte Bello Preserve (near Skyline and Old Pagemill Road). There is also Russing Ridge (other side of Skyline) and Skyline Preserve (mile south on Skyline) with Horseshoe Lake where they have Horseshoe Half Trail Run.
Did you really me September 14th? Or, did you mean November?
