Big New 10K PR (Read 926 times)

Phew... it took until December, but I finally PR'd in some distance this year. Yesterday I ran a 10K in 40:46, knocking over 4 minutes off my previous PR of 44:51. The whole time I was running only a few seconds slower than my usual 5K pace, but if felt easy for some reason. I just started adding in some structured speedwork a few weeks ago, so perhaps it's kicking in. To top it off, my time was good enough for an age group placement with a case of beer as an award!

    -------------------------------------
    5K - 18:25 - 3/19/11
    10K - 39:38 - 12/13/09
    1/2 - 1:29:38 - 5/30/10
    Full - 3:45:40 - 5/27/07

Nice one! Was this at the Newport 10K? I also PR'ed there yesterday (41:26 by my watch) but sadly no beer for me...

Great Job!!! That's a good amount to take off your previous best!!
Thats a huge improvement and also a really good time......so if your going to save you PR to the very end of the year, then I guess you should do it right....and you surely did..... Yes Yes Good Job - I can smell a 38:00 or 39:00 coming a little down the road Shocked Shocked

Nate, Nick - Nice PRs! I also ran that one, and got a PR. Of course, it was my first 10k, so a PR was inevitable barring a DNF. 1:02:41. Next up - break 1 hr. No beer for me either - I made the mistake of leaving my number in the car when I changed, so I had no way to "influence" the emcee!
Wow, there were a lot of PRs that day... my friend also got one, finishing in a mind blowing 37:42. There must have been something in the air.
