Once again, a music thread reminds me that I am old.

The good side of this is that I can try out some new stuff that I'm currently saying "who???" about.  Which is quite a bit of this thread.

Here's the playlist I used for Marine Corps Marathon one month ago.  I set a PR, which proves that these songs are totally sweet.

        The Limping Jogger

Here's the playlist I used for Marine Corps Marathon one month ago.  I set a PR, which proves that these songs are totally sweet.

          311 - T&P Combo
          808 State - Cübik
          Andrew Bird - Scythian Empires
          ...
Wilco - On And On And On

Congrats on the PR but isn't it considered OCD to listen to a playlist in alphabetical order?

Nice to see Cocteau Twins and The Primitives.  Anyway,  my favorites vary somewhat based on mood but here's the current top 10 from my default treadmill playlist:

          (1) The Grudge - Tool

          (2) Mr. Self Destruct  -  Nine Inch Nails

          (3) Rebellion (Lies)  -  Arcade Fire

          (4) Wow  -  Snow Patrol

          (5) Intravenous  -  Catherine Wheel

          (6) Shine  -  The Nefilim

          (7) Slave to the Wage  -  Placebo

          (8) Sin In My Heart  -  Siouxsie and the Banshees

          (9) Temple of Love (extended)  -  The Sisters of Mercy

          (10) Dakota - Stereophonics

"Only a few more laps to go and then the action will begin, unless this is the action, which it is."

          mz1980

Deep Dish               -  The Future of the Future        (best song to run long distance to....it's just incredible)

The O'Jays               - I love Music                                (uptempo and incredibly uplifting)

Daddy's Favourite  - I Feel Good Things for You     (wow this is just a groove)

Ian Pooley                - Bay of Plenty                              (uptempo and heavenly)

And then the song I listen while I'm at the starting gate of races is: "Ya Hear Me" by T.I. I seriously get so amped up when I'm waiting for the race to start listening to this, I can hardly control myself.

Training log for the Spring 2011 Chicago Half-Marathon

Congrats on the PR but isn't it considered OCD to listen to a playlist in alphabetical order?

Yikes, that would be crazy - but it's only alphabetized for easy reading.  On my iPod, it's sorted by ascending song length within ascending year of release date.

I don't run to music - so these are not road or treadmill tested. Sometimes they're in my head when I run. I think these are nice songs that might be nice to run to if you were so inclined.

Catch another butterfly – John Denver

                Superbonbon – Soul Coughing

                Lightning Crashes – Live

Long Neck Bottle – Garth Brooks

And Your Bird Can Sing – Beatles

                Helter Skelter – Beatles

Closer to Fine – Indigo Girls

                Release Me – Pearl Jam

                New Years Day – U2

                Army – Ben Folds

Looks like a far more mainstream list than some. Oh well.

i like to mellow down with any of the Brand New albums or a recent favorite Band of Horses. as for the tougher days and races, metal is my main vice so ill put on job for a cowboy, all shall perish, devildriver, with some senses fail and rise against mixed in there.

It's funny, as I kinda hate the music i race with in any other situation--most of it makes me too anxious/angry/ or tense.
