Forums >General Running>PLEASE! : Post Your Top 10 Songs On Your Running Playlist! All Genres Welcome!
My playlist for a good interval workout. I use the mellow Pink Floyd for the warm-up, easy, and cool-down. The fast run portions of the workout are the poppy Beatles songs.
One of These Days - Pink Floyd
Maggie Mae - The Beatles
Dogs - Pink Floyd
Dig It - The Beatles
Shine on You Crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd
It a good 1 hour workout. 19 minutes off, 1 minute on, 19 minutes off...

I don't listen to tunes on runs anymore except when on the dreadmill; even then it's rare. But when I do I tend to cycle through whole albums rather than singles:
deadmau5: Random Album Title
GirlTalk: Feed the Animals
Daft Punk: Alive 2007
Kanye West: My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (don't judge me -- it's actually an incredible album)
M.I.A.: Kala
Explosions in the Sky: Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever (for when I'm trying very hard to keep an 'easy' pace)
This American Life: whatever is in this week's podcast
2021 Goals: 50mpw 'cause there's nothing else to do
Daft Punk: Alive 2007 Kanye West: My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (don't judge me -- it's actually an incredible album)
+1 on this Kanye. but for me its mood is a bit more "drink alone" than "let's do another 5k". still, its easily my favorite albums of the last few years.
the daft punk Alive is also fantastic...no issue getting up and out, just need to get through the warmup without breaking into a full on "running man".
I'm also a soul coughing fan. my fav upbeat song of theirs is the DnB remix of Rollin'...truly outstanding. seen them and or Doughty solo numerous time live, always a great time.
I dont usually run with music, but when I do I prefer dos equis more uptempo rock....permanent shuffle includes a lot of rock/punk from recent years gone by such as Hot Water Music, Lagwagon, Bouncing Souls, NUFAN, A3 etc. Mixed in with some modern hip hop (Cool Kids, Doomtree, Common, Mos Def) and upbeat indie rock (RVIVR, Mixtapes, Off With Their Heads etc).
Hey! That's my own personal "theme" song...(my last name is pronounced "bawn"). Pretty obscure there, didn't think anyone else even owned a soul coughing album.
I was about to say something similar to this when I saw Tief post this. I mean, my last name isn't pronounced like that, but it's the first time I've seen anyone else know who they are!
"When a person trains once, nothing happens. When a person forces himself to do a thing a hundred or a thousand times, then he certainly has developed in more ways than physical. Is it raining? That doesn't matter. Am I tired? That doesn't matter, either. Then willpower will be no problem." Emil Zatopek

I have about 100 others than I have on my player and run through over and over...and have for years...though I listen to music maybe once every three runs. I enjoy listening to the MeadowLarks, and Finches and Chickadees and Magpies, Sparrows, and Jays and Hawks and Owls (night time runs) as much if not more so.

Lately every time the Love Grenades "Young Lovers" - Sam Sparro REMIX pops up on my iPod I have to repeat it. It makes me run faster. The first time I ever heard it was on this freeriding video...

Also gangsters paradise is a sweet song, if a bit old school
Are any of you using Spotify? If so, are you mostly using it for discovering new music? I just downloaded it this week and am exploring. So far, it seems good (or at least better than iTunes "Genius") for discovering new music and playlists. Anything else I should be using it for?
Other current favorite running songs:
All the Right Moves - OneRepublic
Empire State of Mind - JayZ/Alicia Keys
Intergalactic - Beastie Boys
Bring Em Out - T.I.
Ana Ng - They Might Be Giants

Break on through
1. Light of Day, Day of Darkness - Green Carnation
That's it. One song, good for an hour on the treadmill!
"Not to touch the Earth, not to see the Sun, nothing left to do but run, run, run..."
I don't listen to music when running, but I love this one...without JayZ...and the performance from Saturday Night Live.
There was a point in my life when I ran. Now, I just run.
We are always running for the thrill of it
Always pushing up the hill, searching for the thrill of it
I'm not a JayZ fan, either, but I make an exception for this song.
