Runs with the pack

"I Had It Coming" from White Rabbits - Milk Famous.  It's EXACTLY my running cadence.   And a great song.

I listen to Drum and Bass. I have adjust the tempo so that it matches my target cadence. I use a tool called djay to create the mixes.

Here is an example 1 hour mix that I use for tempo runs. It starts a 184bpm (92 cadence) and progresses to a 188bpm (94 cadence).

You must be about 20? My 20 yo nephew loves most of your choices. I like Well Thought Out Twinkles by Silver Sun Pick Ups and Chop Suey!

Hey - I'm 40, read that playlist and thought "finally! A kindred soul".

Katy Perry - Wakin' Up in Vegas

"If you have the fire, run..." -John Climacus

I don't like the idea of listening to music while I'm running.  When I can find a place that's completely silent while running, that's music to my ears.

              Runs With Kid

I don't often run with music unless I need a real pick-me-up.  My "run hard" playlist works for my sluggish days and I also used it during the last hour or so of my 22 hours of labor, my son was born to "Show me how to live".  Smile

Rolling Stones - Paint it black

Thanks!  There were a couple of songs in here that I wouldn't have know by name but once I listened to on iTunes had "Ohhh" moments.

I really like Cake's Prolonging the Magic album.  I particularly like Let Me Go and The Distance (of course) for running.  Mexico is one of my favorite sappy songs.

                      I keep:

                      The Beatles - Oh! Darling

stuck in my head when I run.

It is a bit over 170bpm.

I only need one for pre-race while I'm getting my spikes on: Blood and Thunder by Mastodon.

                          That's probably maybe mostly true.

Off topic, but Julia 1971, your shaddow looks just like the woman outline on the bathroom door. LOL

I ran pretty well to Cake's Going the Distance but this week The Offspring's Keep em Seperated - really did wonders for my motivation!

It's the arms, isn't it?  Too bad I wasn't wearing a skirt to complete the look.

I discovered/rediscovered some tunes this weekend, thanks to the Marathon Daily crew:

                              Bad Romance - Lady Gaga

Little Lion Man - Mumford and Son

                              Stronger - Kelly Clarkson

This Too Shall Pass - OK Go

Wild Wild Life - Talking Heads

I don't like the idea of listening to music while I'm running.  When I can find a place that's completely silent while running, that's music to my ears.

I do the same.  I have never tried listening to music while running, even on long runs.  ---Usually what happens to me is whatever the last song I heard on the radio was gets repeated over and over in my mind as I run, sometines for hours.

My wife just bought me an Ipod for Valentines day, so I am thinking about trying it out for the first time on a long run.  I'll give it a shot at least...  I'll start with:

                                1.   Europe - The Final Countdown.  (Old school, I know!)

                                2.   James - (I agree with previous poster) Laid and a couple ofhers of theirs

                                3.   Talking heads - "Road to nowhere" and Most of their other greatest hits as well.  They're quirky, would keep my mind busy on a looong run :-)

                                4.   Pretty much anything by Black Eyed Peas.

                                5.  Pet Shop Boys (More old school, all of their 80's upbeat techno songs).

                                6.  Anything positive and upbeat.  None of that Alanis Morrisette type of depressing crap. Smile

Many of those songs would only work for those folks who do not try to match step to the BPM of the music.  You'd look pretty damn funny trying to match your step to "Take me to the Riiiiiiii-ver---" .....  "Drrrrrrrrrop me in the waaaaaaater....".  ......Running on pace to that would be sure to cause injury, public embarassment, or both.  Approve

                                .
