Pre Race Meal & Running Gels in Ireland!! (Read 421 times)

    Hi, I am training for my first marathon in four weeks - I have just come back to my log as I was not maintaining it for various different reasons. My training is going really well and I am very happy with it. Now I have two questions!! 1. What foods would you typically eat the day before a long run/race? What would your typical days food consist of and what are the timings? I am eating porridge in the morning and pasta during the day but wonder is there any tips you can give me. 2. I have been experimenting with gels and sports drinks and am ok with the sports drink - high five which I find very good. My problem is with gels - there are limited amounts of outlets in Ireland that sell gels etc and the one I was using I have had problems with (maxim). Can anyone suggest any gels to try and can you recommend a good retailer in Dublin/Ireland? Cheers, James
