Dps - huge week. A taper might help you.
Darkwave - good luck on the injury.
The quake here was fairly big. Trains have all stopped. Luckily working from home today. It would have been quite large at the epicenter, which is around 100km away. Surprisingly little report of damage.

Also, there is no way I am going to watch a live stream of a 1:2x half marathon.
Hot Weather Complainer
So just to clarify, is that a yes or a no to the live stream...
I do like the optimism of calling it a 1:2x half marathon

I took today off. My achilles was screaming. Slightly concerned to be honest. Running on it yesterday when it was tender wasn't the wisest...but running is stupid anyways. So, my wife and I went for a walk and it loosened up. I'll go out tomorrow and run and see how that goes. Hopefully just a day off thing and then back to some good easy runs. Gonna at least let my body recover by doing all easy miles this week.
Mother of Cats
Definite YES on the Zoom call - fun to see all your faces.
Recent earthquake has gotten no coverage here. Coverage of the Pakistani air crash has gotten almost nothing. Frustrating how self-focused US news has become.
Everyone's gotta running blog; I'm the only one with a POOL-RUNNING blog.
And...if you want a running Instagram where all the pictures are of cats, I've got you covered.
Mrakers Achilles can be tricky but reduce hills and maybe use a shoe with more drop for a bit.
Darkwave I will try and get one of our 3 cats to make an appearance
Watson scary quake but sounds like no major damage.
Steve I'm keen for your live stream even if you think we are watching when we aren't it might make you run faster

Strength running podcast (Fitzgerald) just had a guy on there talking about achilles issues as an example of how to address a running issue. Worth a listen....

Mrakers - good week, and luck on the achilles.
Steve - if you pace well, and you are someone who can time trial well (I cannot), then I think you are 1:2x based off your recent training.
The quake was not big enough to attract international media.
RIP Milkman
Woah woah woah, no Zoom calls, you know guys I want nothing to do with you and will make up another Zoom call to get out of it.
Mark - I noticed you posted in miles over on the marathon thread, but KM here. Totally confirmed I'm in the minority here.
Watson - haha I hope you were kidding, who cares what pace the race is at, the point is Steve has trained a lot and is going for a good time for his training. I'd rather watch his half and cheer him on than watching a pro race unless they were going for some WR.
DW - it's not about being US - focused, it's just that the media like a cat chasing the latest shiny light. During the middle of the pandemic, you'd look back at the "top news" from January and think "I cannot believe this is the stuff we cared about."
Me - first decent week in a while, got to 55 miles. I was starting to get down and out about running but then after 2 weeks of just shit running, I had an 8 mile run where I felt so horrible I said "it's time to get back into shape." Don't know if I'll get to that time trial, but it shows me that maybe I will keep running into the fall. The fear of losing all that fitness is quite a motivator.

I wasn't kidding. It doesn't sound like the video will be great either, you would need someone following, videoing well, no streaming issues etc.
Also, from Friday, NZ goes to a 100 limit on gatherings, currently 10.
Mark Nice week congrats on the weekly mileage record,
and you're right there are some machines on here putting up huge weekly miles #.
Piwi hope your calf continues to get better.
Watson nice week its great to see you continuing to progress with your hamstring
you have been really patient with your recovery.
Flavio nice info on OYO would be nice to have something like that in my area nice week too.
James Nice week I wish we would have some small races like that her I like the staggard starting idea.
It will be nice to race again soon.
DW nice week hope the foot issue continues to progress. I've been meaning to ask you: How you calculate a Pool running mile to the equivalent road mile?
DP nice week and nice job on the midweek workout as well as that Saturday long run those last 6 miles must have been tough.
Markers nice week hope nothing serious with the achilles.
For me I came up a bit short of my plan for the week. I was targeting 40 and thanks to a week filled with evening downpours and storms I got off to a slow start only getting in 2, 5 milers going into the weekend. I also ended up having to cut my Saturday run short by a couple miles due to time constraints.
I hope to have a better week this week, we will have to see, the weather will be very unsettled again this week with afternoon and evening storms rolling through. I'm still just building a base with lots of easy miles and no WO.
I haven't heard anything about a quake or plane crash, of course I haven't had the TV on in days...maybe I need to catch up on the news.

10 minutes in the pool equals one mile for easy running. No real science to it, other than that the effort levels are similar, and it makes for easy math.
If I'm doing pool-running interval workouts (which I haven't done in years), then I just try to correlate effort/time for the hard part, while treating the recovery as 0 miles (since I usually just float there). For example, since 800s take me roughly 3 minutes on the track (give or take 10 seconds), when I'm doing a workout of 10x3 minutes on, 1 minute recovery in the pool, I treat it as 5 miles - each hard 3 minutes counts as a half mile, while the recovery is treated as if I was standing.
[BTW, if pools ever open again and anyone is stuck pool-running, I really recommend 10x3 minutes on (as hard as you can), 1 minute recovery. That workout is fairly easy to remember and execute, and gets you 40 minutes of solid aerobic work.]

Steve - i could watch the live stream if there were something to keep us entertained during the 10 minutes between comet Steve appearances. Say a funny cat or something.
Watson - the quake did attract international attention cause Jacinda was being interviewed while it was happening. She's a cool cucumber and handled it very well.

Ok this is silly. Steve - strap the camera to your chest and live stream it in first person.
During the race perform a dissertation about the differences between better and bitter. You could also tell us about the various types of bourbons. In the end you can just launch a few explectives from time to time
