Piwi - great pic. Beautiful running there today even if it was a bit warm. I’d have loved to have a crack at that race back in August!

I will do a RR at some point in the next few days, a few amusing highlights from the race that you will all enjoy including one of the most comedic blow-ups I think I’ve ever seen.

Steve - I suspect I may have been running in a group that included Dave around the 5-6km mark. It broke up very quickly after that and I didn’t see what happened behind me.

My week done as im not running tomorrow and I want to get it up while the USA is still on Wednesday

Obviously very low. My racing year is over so I can relax now and get fat.

Piwi - great job out there by the way. I reckon that Mount base track, combined with the wind, was worth at least a minute.

Thanks Mark I definitely held back today to reduce the pain factor not that I should use that as an excuse but I hate warm conditions

zebano -  Sorry, things got lost in the race excitement.  I lived in Melbourne, Australia for nearly 10 years and had a coach there who also coaches elites, and has a background in running/tri, up to ultra.  His running level is around the 1:30 area, enough to understand what it takes, and he has the qualifications to back it up.

I moved back to NZ and modelled my training on what he'd given me (last race I did under his guidance was my 2016 PB). Earlier this year things got to the point where I re-engaged and now utilise him via Zoom - I basically pay $NZ100/month for a zoom call but he also monitors strava and pro-actively updates my online training spreadsheet.  I've even had late Friday night emails telling me to stick to the designated paces after he's reviewed my last training run.

If you can find someone like that, it would be gold.  I'm not sure if the usual online coaches can be as receptive but you never know.  And you can always try my guy although I'm unsure about his insurance etc for the USA.  Here's his website anyway:

Mark and piwi congrats again on a great day.  Boggles the mind that you guys can run within yourselves and produce results like that.  Hope the beer is flowing, and GO THE ALL BLACKS

Zeb - first iteration of the gluing didn’t work well, well it worked until the end of the workout and then detached again.

              I’ve put more glue now.

I've only ever worked with running coaches, dunno about the triathlon world.

Mark/Piwi - great races and solid times on a warm day. It’s a beautiful place to race as well.

RP - Awesome job on the sub 20, from now on you no longer have to dress as Lady Gaga as per the forum requirements. Welcome to the club!

Piwi, stellar race, its amazing what some 13 year olds can do.

Mark, good tempo, way to keep the ego in check.

RP amazing job breaking 20 for the first time solo! Were you faster than the horses?

I was actually wondering if they'd help me, make for a good Strava title/story, or hinder my performance. Thankfully they wanted very little to do with me, but I was mostly afraid they'd trample me in some way since I really don't trust anything with a brain, and I'm about as much of a fan of horses as I am of cats. I leave them alone and respect their space so they can do the same for me.

Mark, Piwi, and Brewing - Congrats, all.

I may have increased my pool work a little too quickly, as one shoulder is starting to get sore.  Taking Thanksgiving Day off helped.  It’s been nice to get back to the park, even if it’s just for short jogs.

Sun - 2 miles jogging ¼ mile repeats, walking rest, glute sore while jogging, not while walking

Mon - 45 minutes swimming, 25 pool running

Tues - 65 minutes pool running

Weds - 3 miles jogging ¼ mile repeats (8:50 pace), walking rest, glute sore while jogging and next day

                      Thurs - off

Fri - 49 minutes swimming, 12 pool running

Sat - 70 minutes pool running

Total - 5 miles jogging, 94 minutes swimming, 162 minutes pool running

James good to hear you are jogging again.

RP - such a missed opportunity that the horses didn’t run in your general direction, that’d make for a sub 18

James - Keep at it, it’s good to see a bit of running there.

Piwi - I'm confused by the ad that shows protein coming in a detergent package haha.

me - A nice week. I'm not feeling as refreshed as last week though that's expected as I ran a bit more.

James  sorry about the shoulder, have you considered a swim coach Wink  More seriously while it could be simple overuse, my shoulder got sore when ramping up time in the pool with bad form (in my case it had to do with my arm crossing over.

Jmac - just saw the 5K AND the mile.  Craziness.  The morning after my (non PR) 5K I...slept in and did yoga....

Very nice job.  And I thought the splits on your 5K were very good - A-, at least.

As for me - I ran a 5K race yesterday afternoon.  The course was not certified (and never represented as such) and my foot pod measured it as long, so maybe it was.  Official time for something 5K-ish - 19:48.    Race report here.
