Hello RA! I am yet another RWOL refugee who came here to avoid the spam. I was new to the Beginners Forum on RW, was on there just a bit over a month and was happily finding a home there full of amazing advice and support when the spam trolls ruined the forum, so I'm hoping to have a similar experience here. I have been posting for the past few days in the former BF member user group here on RA, and decided that it is time to check out the general forums and start to get to know some RA members who aren't RW refugees.

Anyway....my name is Kristin. If you want to know how old I am, I will give you a hint that my user name contains some information that could help you figure that out Wink. Here is some background about me:

I grew up in NJ, now live in Brooklyn, NY. I have been working out in the gym for..... I guess like 9 years now, but for some reason running outside was always too "hard" and too intimidating, so I stuck mostly to group classes, and the elliptical and strength machines. When I moved to Brooklyn a little over 2.5 years ago, I lived next to a wonderful park, and wanted to take advantage of it. During nice days in the spring and fall I would try to get out in the park and do jog/power walks for exercise instead of being cooped up in the gym. I wish I knew what C25K was, but I didn't so I made up my own program which was run/jog for as long as I could and then power walk for a bit to recover, then go back to run/jogging, and try each time to increase how much time I ran vs walked. However, I did this only occasionally, and never during the winter, and rarely when it was really hot in the summer.

This summer, my friend convinced me to register for an October 5K and try to follow a running program to get me running more regularly, because I had expressed interest in really trying to run more regularly but couldn't find the motivation to stuck with it. I have now been running 3 days per week for 4 straight months, and continue to supplement that by crosstraining doing other exercise classes I enjoy....generally zumba and yoga.

I ran my first 5K on October 13, 2012, and my second on Thanksgiving. I am currently training for a 10K. I have officially been bit by the running bug, and love it!

Can't wait to keep getting awesome advice from other former RWOL BF "refugees" as well as get to know some RA members!

    She laughs at me......

      Hi!

This area is not for RWOL style chat. Here, Running 101, general running, and the threads out here are for running questions. The link to the RWOL group/forum is in my sig.

      Thanks
