Nah we gotta meet halfway. Based upon my research, that would be...in the middle of Lake Huron. 5K running through a lake going to require a lot of strength. Better hit the leg press now.
Edit: Realized the lake will be frozen in February. Going to practice by placing grease all over the wood floors in my apartment and practice the feeling of running on ice.
5K: 16:37 (11/20) | 10K: 34:49 (10/19) | HM: 1:14:57 (5/22) | FM: 2:36:31 (12/19)
Jmac good luck tomorrow.
Flavio thanks for the VPN help. I only get a few country options to switch to.
I just saw a bit of decathlon. Dude throws the javelin 70m and then runs a 4.15 1500m ! Wow.
Mark awesome job today in your race.

We consider running on our roads November-March and running on a frozen lake and running on a hockey rink all basically the same thing. I have special winter running gear and will destroy you. #MNLife
Side note. Here is the race on sunday for me. https://www.tcmevents.org/events/medtronic-twin-cities-marathon-weekend-2019/race/10-mile Map is toward bottom of page...good thing I like hills. Goal is to break 1:00:00...modified from original 1:05:00

Based purely on the quality of banter here, you probably both could’ve been on the team (also we had two spots free).
With our best guy injured I got swapped on to leg 2 which was the longest leg. It was hard work into the wind almost the whole way, with some long grinding climbs and I got passed by a few of the top Senior Men’s runners (including Michael Voss who is around a 1:05 half marathon runner). I had a good tussle with one runner where we swapped places about 4 times. He was blowing up at the top of the last hill but I’d saved just enough to take advantage of a big downhill over the last 1500m and I busted out a 2:53 for the last km. So focused on the baton handover and figuring out whether I was going to throw up that I forgot to stop my watch, so no idea what the official time was. Probably just under 35 I think for 10.2km.
I think we were 10th which was not bad considering we had a pretty under strength team. We might pick up a couple of places due to time penalties and DQs for other teams.

Oh and good luck JMac for the 10k!
Well done Mark! and good luck JMac!!!(might be late - sorry)
Keen are you racing today as well? is so good luck (might be late - sorry)
my week went fairly well, 1 real workout (2X200R - rec 200jog in 35, then 1,600 rec 3min walking/jog in 6:20 and 5:55, in progression, then 2X200R rec 200 jog in 33/34) and a lot of easy run with some strides in which I am trying to increase cadence (I am often between 165 and 170 and get up to 180/185 in intervals). More to come during the week on this, I have questions for you
I am trying to implement a bit of Jack Daniel in my next cycle (8 weeks to the 10K on the 30th of November). I will be focusing a bit on speed (R and I) to use my strength and see if I can get better.
Tomorrow I have the short annual relay (4X a bit more than 2 miles), looks like it is going to rain...
PRs since re-started in 2013:

Good luck, DPS! JMac, Keen - hope you did well.
I’m having some allergy trouble, or some other minor illness. My 4-mile tempo Thursday was really bad - my mile splits almost always range within 5-10 seconds from fastest to slowest, but this time they were 6:41 (good), 6:50 (ok), 7:03 (ugh) and 7:06 (double-ugh). Just had nothing in the tank, and that was even while listening to music, as I found my iPod. Had been feeling sluggish earlier in the week too, and ran out of gas on Friday’s easy run as well. Did better today, so maybe my allergy meds are kicking in. Still got in 35 miles for the week, and I assume the tempo effort had some benefit even if the time was bad.
Sun - off
Mon - 9.3 miles easy
Tues - 6.2 easy & slow
Weds - 37 minutes swimming, also slow
Thurs - 6.6 including 4.1 @ 6:55, faded badly
Fri - 6.3 easy, tired late
Sat - 6.6 easy, not as tired
Total - 35 miles
12-week average - 33 mpw
Post-1987 PRs: Half 1:30:14 (2019); 10K 39:35 (2019); 5K 19:12 (2017); Mile 5:37.3 (2020)

Good luck DPS.
Keen great job on Strava today. Fast time and top placement.
Jmac smoking fast 10k. Man we have some fast people on here.
Keen - congrats on the 2nd place albeit I'm sure it felt a bit like Groundhog Day.
JMac - awesome job on the 10k. Looked like a few rollers in the course but if you hit a good rhythm sometimes they don't really matter. I'm glad you finally got decent weather for a race after those summer 5k's. Nicely paced with the last 2k's being the two fastest as well. You're in no postiion to accuse me of sandbagging any more either!
James- I hope the allergies were instead of injury niggles, not as well as!
Me- another decent mileage week even with Saturday's race in there. I didn't taper for the race at all when I knew we had an understrength team, and found it a bit hard to get the legs turning over on the day but the headwind certainly made it tough too. Legs were a bit slow for my long run this morning better than expected considering I'd raced the day before! Anyway, job done and week done!
M: 9.2km recovery, weights
T: 11.4km incl. short efforts
W: 18km moderate

F: 15km steady
S: 12.5km incl. NZ Road Relays Leg 2 (35:10 official / 10.2km)
S: 25km long run
Total: 91.2km
Thanks everyone. Will write up a full report soon, but 34:49 with no taper on a rolling course has me pretty stoked. The pressure in on now for a sub 1:16 in a few weeks but I'm excited to get at it. It's great to be part of a community here that really pushes you. Wouldn't be anywhere near the level I'm at without seeing what you guys do on a week to week basis.
So happy for you Jmac. I sensed you were getting a little bit over it with the summer heat but this PR will re motivate you.
My week

has anybody watched the world champion marathon ? It was a very entertaining race, I’m So happy for Hawkins
Did he win Marco ? That's amazing after his heatstroke at The Goldcoast Games.
James and Piwi - nice weeks.
Mark - nice race.
Jmac - congrats on the race.
Sorry for a bit AWOL. Sydney holiday was good, but very busy, only ran once, walked a lot. Life's got in the way since I'm back, so only have ran twice since back. I'm not going to race the 5km on Tuesday, but this week should be a good training week.
Last two weeks:
Monday was morning, so missing due to the app bug.
