RIP Milkman
Thanks everyone. I'm here in California and just gonna be relaxing until race time. Good thing coming from the east coast is sleep should be easy and the 430 wake up is actually more like 730 for me. Weather isn't the A+ people come to expect with this race, but should be okay. Low 50s, light rain, 10mph crosswind.
Keen - standard taper feeling. I FINALLY felt good in my 5 miler yesterday. That's always the run where it feels like I'm ready to get to work. With another day off, and then just 3 miles the day before, it's go time. You should follow the same schedule. If you feel good this weekend, you've over tapered.

My week in the bag. Maybe a little lighter next week before a mini-taper into the 5000m race the following week. The typical December humidity has definitely arrived, Tuesday and Sunday were particularly tough. Also, this Sunday morning was thankfully (probably) the last of my crazy 4am efforts. My wife's family are closing that business now and starting up something different next year. Hopefully this means I will be able to run at slightly more normal times.

"CONSISTENCY IS KING"
I got another solid week at 34 miles. That’s 3 weeks in a row at 34/35, so I’ll do a bit less next week then try to bump up to 40 the following week. I did strides one day this week; how often should I be doing them?
I had an annoying thing happen on my run today. At about 8.5 miles my thoracic spine seized up. I pulled up as if I’d been shot in the back , and it hurt about as much as I’d expect getting shot to hurt. Couldn’t run another step without shooting searing pain; hell, I could barely stand up straight! So I walked and stretched, made it home and rolled. It’s still there now, but not so bad. This happens to me about once a year and is a real nuisance.

Go JMac.
Kimba and James - good weeks.
Mark - nice week. It's great that you won't have to run at 4am on Sunday's anymore, you've done so well this year. I guess it's been a tough year for your wife's family with the swimming business.
My week was pretty good.

By the way forum member madison must be within shouting distance from Jmac as they have a very similar splits. Maybe Jack passed him along the way.
