Looks like a huge field with some real speed.  About time they put up the competitior list/Live timing links so we can see who is running.

I also want the race to get here but I always feel like this when I know I've done the work....the more time until the race, the more opportunity for something to go wrong like getting sick.

Odds not good.  There's still a few hundred entries left, I believe.  Generally Running Events only post the live timing links once entries are closed off (like for Maraetai they went up on the Friday because the event sold out).

I had a quick look on the Facebook event page and it looks like Ciaran Faherty is running.  He would be a good shot at the win.  He's come close to winning the Auckland Marathon a few times but never quite got there.

      RIP Milkman

Weather has taken a turn for the better, although some people are worried it'll be too warm! Temps should be around 60/16 during the race with a side breeze, warming up to 65/18. Personally I'm okay with that, as I think you can stay perfectly cool as long as the winds are kicking, which they should be.

Biggest concern right now is thunderstorms. That obviously would be a disaster for the BAA for folks out on the course, because even if you "shut down" the race while it's ongoing, how in the world would all those people seek shelter? Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

JMac - I get that on a couple of small islands surrounded by oceans, our weather forecast can be a bit of a lottery, but damn, I thought weather was supposed to be more predictable on large continental land masses!

Jmac- Yeah from what I've seen it's looking slightly better for the race on Monday, and maybe the wind will end up being at our backs? What corral are you in? Maybe we could meet up before the start or in the chute, I am wave 1 corral 3

A buddy from my running group will be there, bib 6105, make sure to scream RONALDO if you see him by some miraculous coincidence. He's a Piwi kind of bloke, over 50 and has run several sub 3 marathons.

I have 12K at 4:15 pace tomorrow morning.  It's a scary proposition. In case you're not a metric connoisseur, that's the pace required for a sub3 marathon. Or a 1h30 half. I might join some runners from the running group.

I'm having taper madness. My left foot is all kinds of wonky and with pain on different parts. Except I'm not tapering. Or racing...

Mark/Jmac/Steve - Please post the latest weather forecast

Good news for the Boston runners, hope it keeps getting better.  Still looks perfect for Auckland tomorrow.

Edit - perfect timing Flavio!  Currently looks like about 10-15 degrees in Auckland at race start time with light winds.

12km @ 4:15 sounds easy for you given your recent workouts?

After rolling it seems the source is a point on the left soleus that is really tight. I'll make a prayer to the running gods with the foam roller (calves, glutes, quads) and hope it comes better tomorrow.

Here's my link for tomorrow: https://rev-results.tiktok.events/result/waterfront/2019/1003/

The full start list is up.  I scrolled through and there are some seriously fast dudes there, very strong field.  Michael Voss will probably run around 77 on that course, then there is Ciaran Faherty, Jono Jackson, Luke McCallum, Greg Darbyshire and Lachlan Haitana (not sure about him considering he bailed halfway through Maraetai a month ago).  They should all be in the low 1:1x's, maybe quicker.  Then there's a few masters guys like Daniel Coates, Julian Ng and Sasha Daniels that I probably have a minute or two on.

Not sure there's anyone that's just a bit slower than those top elite guys for me to mix it up with so it could be a solo effort (again!), although potentially Darbs might be just a touch slower as he's been a little conservative coming off an injury.  There's always the chance there's someone in there from out of town whose name I don't recognise though.

Weather is still looking good.  It was a really nice, cool temperature outside at 8am this morning (forecast very similar for tomorrow), should be great running conditions albeit there's just a touch of heat in that sun still so cloud cover would be helpful.

JMac - Best of luck in Botswana Monday. Between that and the BAA 5k tomorrow I've got quite a few people to track.

Flavio - Thanks for the imperial conversion on those paces (I had to work out the distance myself, though!). Good luck on the workout in the morning.

Mark - Good luck to you as well. It still amazes me that you have so many high-level runners in your area.

I'm about to head off to DD1's soccer game this evening, but it still looks like DD2's will be cancelled due to rain in the morning. If it happens hopefully I'll be free to do a LR with the local running club in the morning.

My (Canadian) SIL passed her written citizenship test today, so I'm super-psyched about that!

                        Flavio - I think you'll be fine.

                        Mark - good luck.

JMac - good luck with the weather.  The only thing worse than 3 hours of heat or heavy rain, would be 2+ hours and then lightning causing a cancellation.

I have ditched sitting my exam next week as I am not quite ready.  It needed to be next week or late June due to being on holiday the week post Easter, and then being in Sydney for work the following week.  So I will sort out the exam late June, post the Christchurch half.

Also I am now a club runner, as I have joined the local club, Trentham Harriers.

                        RIP Milkman

Matt - I’m going to meet up with some guys before the start from the sub 3 thread. We’re all in corral 2.

Kiwis - Good luck! Sounds like great weather and a “no excuses” type of day/course.

Flavio - thanks for the conversion! That’s a tough workout, probably the hardest you can do if it’s your half marathon pace. Also I took your advice a while ago when I strained my calf and you said it was probably very tight and only a small thing set it off. This entire cycle I was working on that calf when it would get a little tight and I think it saved me from having it strained again. Rolling it out was huge, plus stretching, and finally an electric massager I bought. It’s felt perfect for the past 2 weeks so it’s ready to rock and roll. Make sure you keep at it!

Watson - I think joining a club will be good for you. I think you struggle with inconsistency with training (for obvious reasons) but it’ll help a lot when you don’t have as much going on.

Keen - update your sig, it’s out of date!

Unsurprisingly I woke up early (4am), which I knew was going to happen so I went to bed at 8:30pm haha. At least this means I'll get a good car park out at the race venue.

Watson - well done joining a club.  I don't recall Trentham being there last year, but NZ Road Relays in early October (in Feilding this year, so not too far from you) is a great teams event with grades for all abilities.
