What's your favorite atypical recovery? Massages? Cryotherapy? Floating in a salt bath/pod? Anything else? and why?
I'm always looking to try something outside the standard stretching and foam rolling. Obviously, everyone's body reacts differently

SMART Approach
Yeah, I have been feeling better with heat post work out vs ice. I don't ice anymore. I am seeing more written about this. For hammys specifically, infrared heating pad (which really penetrates) has helped hammys/tendons tremendously vs ice. Use penetrating heat on calves too with more positive results.

I recover best with Beverly International Ultimate muscle protein. Not sure that really atypical in a major way other then it's formulated more for bodybuilder and weightlifters and not endurance athletes. Works far better for me then the stuff that's formulated for endurance.

I was interested in it until I saw the positive Ion stuff. I'm a big fan of heat and will look into infrared vs. regular heat though.
One day at a time
Another vote for hot tub. We bought our neighbor's tub when he moved away - best purchase we've ever made.
Rather unconventional, but I just stop running until I'm recovered. Complete rest.
Jumping in the Davidson River. Cold clear mt. water after a hot summer run.
A round of golf.
Well, I swear by it. Use it before activity. I use just about everyday as it just feels good. The brand you attached I have seen. I am sure it is similar concept. I have actually seen the one you attached less costly. Here is one I have. It has padding. You can find used ones also on EBAY.

Hot shower. I hate the whole ice bath thing.
Also, I like to drink my coffee/espresso with milk after a run rather than before. Not sure it helps with recovery but it sure tastes good.

AND before! Coffee with a bit of sugar and milk is such a treat for me after EVERY long run.
Also, I think I recover better with Body Armor drinks. It's basically glorified gatorade with B vitamins and is so unlike my typical diet; I generally don't bother with processed or gimmicky stuff, but I really like them. I haven't tried any similar sports/recovery drink for comparison, though.
Not running for my health, but in spite of it.
