Mark - The weather complaining committee has rejected your weather complaining.

    Status: THRESHOLD_NOT_MET

Details: A minimum of 20 degrees celsius is necessary for weather complaining on non race days.

Boooo!! What about the Kiwi Point?

Zebano - good luck for the sprint triathlon this weekend.  Like Piwi says triathlon is massive over here.  My coach mostly coaches triathletes, I think there's only me and one or two others that are runners only.  I always find Ironman particularly impressive... marathons are hard enough, let alone when you've already been swimming and biking for 6+ hours!  Re flats, I still have a couple pairs sitting round that I'll crack out for a track session when the mood takes me.

Mark - I'm going to have to agree with Flavio's algorithm here - I've found the warmer weather this week a nice break in the months of really cold weather.  The only mitigating factor is that Auckland doesn't get cold so maybe you have some room to complain about humidity in June.  You've reached your quota for this winter though.

Zeb I wore some flats today for a workout adidas takumi sens 5 which are old school. I do feel beat up now though compared to high stack shoes.

Mark I saw your comment on strava re taking your shirt off. I had the same thought this morning but wasn't confident enough of my upper body

Hey everyone just checking in from Guam!

the trip here was exhausting about 24 hrs of flight time, but got acclimated quickly and we are enjoying our time with our son and meeting some of his new friends and enjoying the sights.

I’m currently sitting in the middle of Macy’s while the wife is shopping lol.

I posted a couple of photos on Strava from our walk on the beach yesterday. It was beautiful.

I haven’t ran as much as I would have liked  I may try and get one more short run in before we leave.

I’ll have to try and catch up later but got to go find my wife right now.

I reject the premise of your weather complaining "quota".

Corey - happy travels.  Wow that's a lot of flight time, that's about the same as going from NZ to Europe.

Zeb - Not sure I can derive race day pace from this workout.

I see it mostly as a way to improve my anaerobic capacity.

I walked 2 minutes in between reps. That’s enough to bring the heart rate down so I started from a low heart rate each time. One minute would not have been enough.

It still got a bit aerobic towards the end though.

I suppose a 1200 at race pace would make me confident I can hold that pace.

My limitation at this distance is literally the physical strength necessary to keep form at that pace.

Fred - You don’t ever have to apologize if life got in the way.

Corey - It sounds like it’s been fun. No wonder it’s 24h travel time as it’s closer to Japan.

                    Cobra Commander Keen

So very far behind, and it's only going to get worse for me over the next 1.5 weeks.
Quick drive by. I've been silly busy with travel (soccer tournament-related) and stuff around the house (like fence building) for the last week, with more craziness this weekend and I'll be out next week as well.

Medical exams to join clubs/races - A medical exam isn't going to stop anyone from having a heart attack or other episode. But if a person is going to have one a race must be one of the safest places for it to occur since there will be medical professionals on-site. How many people have EMTs waiting at their house or office for someone to keel over?

Tempo runs - My coach has me doing runs at HMe and 10k effort rather frequently, but rarely anything at 1 hour race effort (~15k effort, likely) which previously was a staple. There are some times when I kinda miss that 1 hour race effort level, but things seem to be progressing without it.

Hashiritai - My current workout shoes (Mizuno Magic Speeds) are about toast and aside from a decently-used pair of Endorphin Pros I don't have a replacement. Maybe I should hit up the sale posted earlier to see if there are any Endorphin Speeds in my size.

DWave - Hooray for things finally working out.
What are your other cholesterol (HDL, trigs, particle count/size) numbers, if you don't mind sharing? 160 as a stand-alone LDL value doesn't mean much one way or the other.
I've not (intentionally) saved a pair of special shoes, but if CIM this year goes off like I think it should I'll absolutely hang that pair on my wall.

Zebano - Nope, that wasn't directed at me! No bears in my AO outside of the zoo. That must have been aimed at those weirdos in the eastern portion of the state.

Caitlin - Feeling better, I hope.

Blast! I just picked up another work trip a few minutes ago, this time to Austin, TX in mid/late July. Yuck. Nearly 3 days in a city when the big driver is an all-employee meeting that most everyone has been attending virtually for years. It doesn't make much sense to me, but I guess that's why their's no "CxO" in my job title.

Do you have an oximeter at home? It helped me a lot when I got a bit anxious I'd just read a 98 and the calm down.

Hope it's a day or 2 max of grievance for you 🙏

Caitlin - I hope you get well soon.  A coworker of mine came down with it on her honeymoon - she said the worst effects were only for a few days.  Then she had to hang around until she and her husband had negative tests so they could fly back into the US.

I'm taking scuba diving lessons (I got certified last summer and am doing some more advanced stuff).  Instructor says my running seems to make me more efficient with air use than most novices; good to know, I guess.  On the down side, he says I don't keep my legs stiff enough when swimming under water and that's also from running (evidently I'm bending my knees and "cycling").  I still got in a couple miles this afternoon with my younger son (I had to put on shoes a bit faster than my usual easy run shoes).
