Fred - We're merging the 2 training threads as most of the people here were already posting there. That should save them from posting their weeklies twice. You are off course welcome to join us there, they're a nice bunch, there's even some musicians.

*mostly a nice bunch. Things occasionally get a bit heated over there but I'm hoping the fact that everyone on here is pretty cool will moderate that behaviour.

"CONSISTENCY IS KING"
I guess we can always come back if things go wrong, but hopefully we won't have to resort to that.
If I keep posting here I may have a thread all to myself!

No you won't.
And even more so now that there's a disagreement over name calling going on at the other thread.
You're welcome over there as well Hashiritai.
Unfortunately "let's behave ourselves" is not off to a great start there. To be fair Mikkey has attempted to haul RP into line on that one though.
I'm not totally sold on this. What was the reasoning?
I see too many personality differences that will not end well.

Somewhere in between is about right "

Yeah, same. I like being a Walton πππ»
Yeah I'm inclined to agree on the personality differences but I'm giving it a shot for now (and I'm probably one of the personality differences!). I don't know what the logic was, it just kinda happened. It had been discussed a year or two back and I was against it then for similar reasons to yours Piwi. Regardless, I think I'll dual post for the time being.
Another decent week of training in the bag. Pretty much perfect winter running weather here apart from some rain on Friday night making for a splash around the track on Saturday. Sunday's long run was about as good as it gets for winter conditions and I half-wished I'd had my phone to take a picture as I've never seen the water so glassy calm at Christmas Beach, it was pretty beautiful with the sunrise coming up to the east.
Still kind of counting down until races but that's two months off so there's a fair bit of counting to do.
Mark 2 months will be great for fine tuning. Nice week.
My week below. I also had 3 surfs and a couple of upper body and core sessions.
2 sick days but recoverd well.
Steve nice job -5c bloody cold. We had close to a frost
Watson that trail race sounded hard-core.
Hash nice negative split today with serious hills!
Kia ora, fellow Waltons!
Here's my week - just enough mileage to beat Mark - not too much that I hit a round 100km
Mark - I sometimes take my phone for that very reason - don't want to miss a good sunset/sunrise!
Piwi - Jealous. Would love to be back living in a place with good surf close by. Although at my age, I also want warm water...
DW & Fred - Today's long run and my weekly mileage are dedicated to you!
I may stick around here a while too. I'm not yet sure the other thread is quite my flavor, though I'm going to give it some more time rather than go just off first impressions.
Hash - Nice week of work there.
Piwi - Glad to hear you recovered from the sick days. I understand your concerns about the merged thread, so I'm glad you (and the others here) are playing it safe for now.
Mark - Not having been on the other thread, I wasn't aware of the merger discussions. I may be a personality conflict too, but more in terms of my tolerance level (though I admit I need to work on being more tolerant). Was it coincidence that you wound up with a round number of kilometers, or did you end your last run of the week with exactly what was needed to get there?
36.6 miles total. Trying a new format for my weekly summary. Note: the 9:50 pace for my repeats includes the recovery runs and the 2-mile runs to and from the track, so of the 9 miles run, only about 1/3 of them were at speed. A similar story for the pace run, which included 3 miles of warm-up/cool-down.
Yesterday's 5 included 4 with my son. I was coming off an HM pace run the day before while he had fresh legs, so he was kind of pushing me, which I need sometimes. Today I got out while he was still in bed, so I was able to run my 7½ at my own pace.
Hello everyone It's been a while.
After 2 vacation within a short time frame I have had to refocus on some issues and deadlines at work.
I've tried to start picking up the running since coming back from Guam.
I'm still planning on Dec HM trying to make plans now to book a room for a week.
I'm also looking in to getting a coach for the first time and have had a first talk with one last week.
I'm not even going to try and go back and catch up on everything hope everyone is doing well. Although I did see something about merging Threads. I think I'll continue to post here, as it sounds as though a few others will too.
last week for me was getting back to normal coming in at 35 miles hope to stay here for a few weeks before making the jump to 40 again.
hope to have a coach and plan starting end of July first of August.
