James - Good idea to enter a race even if you won't be in your usual shape. All steps ahead are good even if baby steps.
Noah - Welcome. It seems like you have plenty of talent and once you get a few longer races under your belt you'll start putting up some even more impressive times.
Corey - Those numbers are getting pretty impressive. Great to see you getting back to your best.
Zebano - That sucks, I hope you shake it off quickly.
Mark - I think June can be quite a bit colder than that in some places! Not that it really matters anymore for Christchurch since they stupidly moved the race to clash with a million other races. It usually ranges from 20F - 40F at the start on the old date. If they hadn't stupidly cancelled this year it would be running right now. Not a breath of wind and up until 5 minutes ago, no sun and very cool. Would have been perfect! My partner didn't bother reporting her positive test. The only reason I did is just in case one day in the future common sense takes over, and recovering from Covid is considered at least equivalent to a vaccine. Seems unlikely with all the vaccine cultists around but you never know. The good thing for me now is I do feel like I'm genuinely immune, and I never felt that way with the vaccine.
me - I'll post my weekly, such that it is, after my recovery run this morning. I'm feeling much better each day and can now easily live as I normally would, except for running. Yesterday I did 10km @ 5:25/km. It felt mostly comfortable but I wouldn't have wanted to push any faster. My legs feel as sore as they would after a hard race. So with 4 weeks to go, I feel a million miles away from race fitness. I know I'll improve quickly and might even feel good by race day but it's hard to imagine right now. I'm still taking tests because they will test me at the rest home if I visit Mum, and even on day 12, I'm still positive, albeit a much weaker line.
piwi - That 10km you put up yesterday suggests that maybe you're almost over it? It still doesn't feel like it's in my chest which means it might not drag on as much as it has for you.

Steve I suffered a bit after my faster run yesterday and felt yucky for most of the rest of the day. When I say I felt chesty, it's not terrible like I'm hacking up greens and wheezing but more of an annoyance in my throat with the odd coughing up some gunk and generally feeling tired. I didn't report my positive test either. If I get long covid it might come back and bite me as they might not recognize I ever had covid....
Good to hear you are slowly recovering and I'm sure your fitness will return quickly once you can start running decent mileage again.

piwi - I think if I follow the same timeline as you I'll probably pull out of Southern Lakes. I'm not going to run it if it's going to be miserable but I'll hold off a couple of weeks before deciding on that. I'll still have a long weekend in Queenstown and maybe a day trip to Wanaka to cheer on Mark though.
James - I still have my jury duty to catch up, probably in 6 months time. That 5k with all the turns sounds like tough going. Suspect Warren Buffett won't be running it.
Piwi - good to see you are getting back into it.
Steve- I think just see how you feel. If nothing else, it is absolutely beautiful running down the Cardrona valley into Wanaka, so you could just jog it and enjoy the scenery. Anyways looks like you are getting back on track which is great.
Me - back to work with the first of probably four pretty big weeks leading into Southern Lakes. I'd planned to go into the office more and hit Tamaki Drive a bit more often but one of my team tested positive for Covid on Tuesday (I wasn't in that day, luckily), so I avoided the office for the rest of the week. It was pretty humid early in the week but was starting to feel like autumn again towards the end of the week. Legs still felt a bit sluggish midweek but were good on today's long run, so that's promising.

Fred - We tend to select hotel/apartment locations based on if there’s somewhere to run nearby.
But I do like to “get lost” when running easy.
Corey - Nice work there, good consistency of late.
Piwi - Nice week on the come back. I didn’t report my positive test either mostly because the phone lines for that were impossible to get through.
me - Nice week, I know having half my mileage on the long run is not ideal but it's what I have at the moment.
I managed to run for 90 minutes, pretty happy about it, it's a big victory.
I've added estimated half time so Zebano can read that workout from the 7th 😁

I'm in awe of those who can remember their races in such detail. I struggle to recall what my own kids look like at the end of a half!

Mark/Hashiritai nice weeks both over 90kms. The NZ weather is so good for running in the morning right now.
Hashiritai I've added you to my strava.
Flavio great to see you on the comeback and that was a strong 1km segment you took out.

Welcome to Hashiritai (I shall call you Hash from now on, unless you object) and Noah Forrey (I shall call you Noah from now on, unless you object). My week:
46 miles running, 3 hours pool-running, and 500 meters swimming.
M: 90 minutes pool-running and streaming yoga.T: 10.5 miles, including a track workout of 2x1200, 2x800, 2x400 in 5:13, 5:02, 3:13, 3:12, 92, and 93. Recoveries were 1 lap jogged in between 2:42 and over 4 minutes. Followed with platelet lysate injections in back.W: OffTh: 90 minutes pool-running and upper body weights/core.F: 9 miles, including four 350m hill repeats (5% incline) with full recovery. Followed with injury prevention work.Sa: 10 miles very easy (9:52) and yoga.Su: 12.5 miles progressive, split as the first 4 miles averaging 9:50, next 4 averaging 8:28, and next 4.5 averaging 7:22 (and then 2 miles cooldown at 9:09 pace). Followed with injury prevention work and 500 meters recovery swimming.
Got my back injected again on Tuesday - they did L5 on down through the sacrum, and also threw in some prolotherapy of my SI joint. I bruised a bit from the prolo, with the cool effect that you can see the top of my SI joint darkly outlined if you look at my back.
Felt tired the rest of the week - this is consistent with PRP/PL, which always seems to drain my energy for about a week after.
Everyone's gotta running blog; I'm the only one with a POOL-RUNNING blog.
And...if you want a running Instagram where all the pictures are of cats, I've got you covered.
James Nice week and good luck in the 5k! I used to live in Omaha back in late 70's early 80's (corner of 44th & Leavenworth)
Piwi Glad to hear you are doing well , besides the achilles, lower back, neck, and general fatigue
Steve nice week and thanks I'm trying to get back to where I was but still a long way to go!
Flavio nice week way to take that crown!
Mark Hashiratai Nice week both up over 90k
for me
Not quite what I wanted to accomplish this week but I was glad to get out and get in a few miles this morning after getting my covid booster yesterday had a headache most of last night last night, very tight in neck shoulders and base of head didn't sleep well. Still managed over 40 for the week coming in just under 42.
Like I said earlier this week and next will be a down week(s) I will still try and put in what I can this week before we head out so it is not a total bust.

Zebano, hope you and the family are feeling better.
James, nice on getting the LR back up. Any chance for financial celebrity sightings at the 5k?
Nathan, welcome! Those are some very fast times.
Piwi, what would it take for you to really complain about your health? Nice, steady increase in mileage.
Steve, glad to see you back running. Sorry the timing with your next HM is so lousy but maybe you'll bounce back quickly.
Mark, funny that your motivation for going into the office are better running routes. Very nice week.
Flavio, was that the crown? Enjoy your next adventure. One unexpected perk of Strava is knowing when my running friends are traveling.
Hashiritai, very big week.
DW, your post Tues runs looked very good so the injections must still be helping? That's an impressive hill workout.
Cfarr, glad the booster wasn't too bad. Seems to me your paces have been trending down so it looks like your comeback is on track. Have a great cruise! Will you run laps on a deck or a TM?

I knew this week would be a down week being on vacation but I was not expecting this low a week. This was the first vacation where I couldn't do double duty by running with the kids in the stroller and it's going to be a harder adjustment than I realized. Partly I'm bad at prioritizing my running and partly vacation mode was STRONG this week and breakfast mimosas just always sounded better than an afternoon run.
Thursday's workout was not planned. I unexpectedly had an hr to run and after 2 RDs in a week I couldn't fight the urge to just run fast to make it count. So I scrolled thru the workouts already in my watch and picked the one that looked the most fun.
Sunday's run was a struggle. Very heavy and sluggish legs. I'll try to resume a normal week this week and decide next weekend how I want to approach the 10k.

I did my volunteer stint for the NYCM 9+1 today, doing start/finish duties for two women's races going on at the same time: a half and a 5.8 (odd distance, but it fit within the setup for the half). Being at the finish for most of the 5.8, I got to see a lot of women crossing the line at the trail end of the pack for whom finishing was a major accomplishment. It's really something to see people making their "just finish" goals and to see family members eager to greet them. I can't fully describe it; just something in their expressions that reminds me of my early races and the thrill of completing a race, back before I knew anything about age groups, age grading, or even pacing.

Fred - nice job volunteering. I still love hanging around at the finish to encourage others as well. It's awesome seeing people hit their goals or just finish their first half.
Flavio - sounds like good progress, long may it continue! I wouldn't worry too much about the LR as a % of total mileage yet, just good to see you are building it back up.
Hashiritai - nice week, just pipped me haha! I'm guessing the Anthrax track was a reference to the end of daylight savings? Nice to see another metal fan on here.
DWave - hopefully that second injection will allow you to keep progressing.
Corey - yeah those boosters can be rough, I was not great the day after mine. Pretty OK after that though. Nice week.
Caitlin - good to hear you're enjoying the holiday!
Cobra Commander Keen
CFarr - How'd you do post booster? From what I've seen it seems about 1:2 between "didn't bother me much" and "wiped me out". No running track along the perimeter of the top deck?? I'd love to run while on a cruise ship. Using Stryd for pace/distance would make those numbers the same as usual, but the spiralling GPS track as the ship moves should be pretty darn cool.
James - Good progress!
Piwi - With that list of ailments it's a good thing you're not getting old or those could get out of hand!
Mark - Good week, and lucky near miss (near hit?).
Hashiritai - Nice week. I can certainly remember some detail when racing, but it's largely in "bursts" if you will - just patches here and there. The first 16 miles of my PR were run with a guy who was really impressive in his mid-run mathematical abilities. We met a guy who was a mile or so ahead of us (part of an out-and-back) and he did the math on how many minutes ahead of us he was and from our current pace converted that into how much faster he'd have to run across the remaining distance in order to catch the guy assuming he didn't speed up. And then he sped up and almost did catch the guy...
DWave - Good week after the injections. I hope you're recovering from that fatigue nicely.
Caitlin - Hooray for a vacation!
Sizeable cut-back week after the HM. Back to it this week! Hopefully it'll only take me two weeks to (once again) catch/get ahead of my yearly mileage goal pace.

Upcoming Races:
OKC Memorial 5k - April 27
Bun Run 5k - May 4
Hash - I keep my basic math functions during a race but I struggle to remember faces and shapes and anything that is on the scenario.
As you can see CommanderKeen pays attention to wild life 😁
DW - You’re a brave woman. Injections at the spine oh my 😳
Corey - hopefully the booster effects don’t last long
Caitlin - No, I just seek crowns that are take-able. Sometimes there’s fast people like Mark and Noah who just take over all the crowns on the way on their easy run 😎
me - A nice workout earlier today, just enough work that I can do and not too taxing. 4x 6 minutes @ roughly 10k pace with 2 minutes rest.
We're in Sevilla (SSE-BEE-YA) in Spain and it's so pretty, so many nice looking buildings, the foot path by the river is a very pleasant run.
