OXFAM TRAILWALKER 100KM (Read 464 times)

Hi there, Along with 2 brothers and an uncle (all of us log our runs here on RA) we are competing in the Oxfam Trailwalker 100km trail run being held in Taupo, New Zealand on April 14th and 15th 2007. We have the fairly ambitious goal of primarily running the course as a team (i.e. not a relay, everyone travels the whole distance) and hopefully finishing in around 17 or 18 hours. Part of the whole event is that participants also raise funds for OXFAM to "overcome poverty and injustice". So it is with this in mind that I direct you to our team web page where you are able to make a donation to OXFAM on our behalf: http://www.oxfam.org.nz/events/teams.asp?a=show_team_pages&eventid=1&teamid=1365 Even if you're unable to make a donation it's a good cause so great to even take a look at the site and find out a bit more about the awesome work that OXFAM do all around the world. If you're interested in finding out more about the running habits of other members in our team we have a user group called Oxfam Trailwalker 2007 . My team mates are currently entertaining themselves by changing their RA usernames on a weekly basis so the easiest place to pin them down is here: http://www.runningahead.com/groups/Oxfam We'd also be really keen on hearing from anyone who has experience with this kind of event (e.g., jlynnbob) with advice tips etc on how to finish ultra marathons. I'd also like to apologize in advance as I am planning to post this message in several forums. Cheers and thanks for your interest Simon Bennett

    • Where's my closet? I need to get back in it.
Kia ora Claire Thanks for the words of support. Great to see there are other Kiwi's taking advantage of this awesome site! Sorry to hear of your injury but big congrats on the comeback run yesterday Smile As for the Taupo course I was part of my wifes support crew when she walked it last year. It's an incredibly picturesque trail, whether I'll be enjoying it is another question! Simon
Great organization. I wish there was a US OXFAM. Good luck and thanks for helping to make trade fair and all that! Big grin
