2013 Sub-19 5K (Read 1932 times)

I forgot to say that the winner was the college XC coach at 16:10.  2nd place was about 17:50, so he really smoked his team!

Congratulations, Eric! I enjoyed your report and those weren't exactly ideal conditions(a half mile of gravel?) but you still got the sub 19 and PR. I like the footnote about the coach taking his team to school out there - back in HS we had a coach who could do that.

And Dougal, make no mistake, I eat dirt on a regular basis (3 times at the last race)  but I just love the way you kind of have to dance along the trail.. And hey, no broken bones yet!

I ended up doing a Turkey Trot kinda last minute this morning.  I ran an 18:51.  I was honestly hoping to go about 20 to 30 seconds faster, but I'm still happy with the sub 19.

Nice running Dougal - Congrats, you had an excellent 5k season! And your notes on how you got there are important info - thanks for posting those.

Late to the game this year. Actually have been getting back into shape and losing some extra pounds. Think I am ready. My son and I raced a 5k last weekend and I hit 19:24. It was a grass, gravel, pavement mix with two good uphills. So I have a flat 5k next weekend downtown where I plan to go after that 18:59.

Nice work getting in under 19, mnyce!  Getting that extra 20-30 seconds off one's 5K race time requires a whole bunch of things to come together perfectly on race day. Doesn't happen every time we want it, but that makes it all the sweeter when it does happen.

Yep! New PR!  I'll definitely join the sub 18 group next year.

Congrats! Is that a new PR? Way to stick with it. Come join us in the sub-18 for 2014 group.
