Running a -Sub 20 5K (Read 92 times)

GCIT01

I am a freshman in high school and have recently finished my cross country season and am getting into road race form. My PR (on road) is 20:13. I have really wanted to get -sub 20 5K and beyond, preferably somewhere from 19:15 to 19:30 before our practice starts back up in July. Typically, I run three times a week, not including a weekly 5k race in the winter, about 2-3 miles each time at an easy pace. I know I neeed to start some speed/tempo workouts, but am unsure where to begin. Does anyone have any good speed work-out recommendations?

    All help is appreciated!!!

    an amazing likeness

It can't be done, quantum physics, speed of light, aerodynamics, the stride length of an ostrich, and all kinds of crap come into play to make 20 min a barrier.

But if you ran a bit more, stretching those 2 to 3 milers out a tad, you might be the exception.

Acceptable at a dance, invaluable in a shipwreck.

Join the track team at your school, don't mess around with road races

I go to a vocational/tech school and my school doesn't have a track team. Plus, I do baseball in the spring.
