I always use two of the plastic ties. Works great.

Yeah - you should see my laces after I get done with the plastic dealies. I get a little obsessive about it and loop the plastic around about 50 times. I've actually heard the folks trying to cut the chip off my foot at the end of the race cursing under the breath at me. They'd probably prefer I did use my laces. No way in Hell that things ever gonna fall of my foot.
