35km in 2:29:13, about 20 seconds slower than previous 5km splits, hopefully he's still going strong. He's now running around the tan where there's a few annoying hills, especially on tired legs. Still on track for 2:59:53.
Mother of Cats
Fingers crossed. I will say it's nice and relaxing to watch and track a marathon during a lazy afternoon.
Another aside - I'm watching the livestream, and the last quarter mile in the stadium looks very poorly organized - quite a few runners seem confused on where to go.
Everyone's gotta running blog; I'm the only one with a POOL-RUNNING blog.
And...if you want a running Instagram where all the pictures are of cats, I've got you covered.
It's pretty weird, it's just a half lap and should be pretty obvious. When I've run that race they've always had someone at the end of the tunnel waving you in the right direction. It's awesome finishing in the stadium and is a boost in the last few miles as you see it getting closer.
It’s possible that running it under Covid protocols has impacted other areas of the organising.
40km in 2:51:08, another slight slowdown. Projected finish of 3:00:31. Come on Marby!
Go Marby, it's so close!
Just saw the women's half winner on replay - she was on the wrong finishing chute and had to quickly crossover to finish!
Finishes in 3:00:24, so close but an amazing run, congratulations Marby! Looks like the hilly parts of the Tan just took a few seconds out of his legs.
Very consistent pacing throughout.
Great job Marby!
Should note that I think that’s gun time, I’m not sure if wave starts mean that’s automatically updated to net time or not
Missed it by that much...bugger😫
Half 1:26:41 (2016), Marathon 2:59:83 (2021)
Great race Marby, even if not the sub 3 you wanted. A PB is always something to be proud of.
2:52:16 (2018)
Elite Jogger
Big congrats Marby on the PB and you obviously gave it your best shot!
We’ll both be going sub3 in 2022...so no worries.
5k - 17:53 (4/19) 10k - 37:53 (11/18) Half - 1:23:18 (4/19) Full - 2:50:43 (4/19)
It sucks to go so close, but that was the best race you could run yesterday, and an amazing time.
Had you tried going faster earlier who knows maybe you'd hit the wall.
Congrats again 👏👏👏
