I'm back! (Read 10 times)

Cancer treatment in 2017 and surgery/recovery through the first half of 2018 kept me from hitting my goal for the past 2 years. I hope to hit it again in 2019, as my weekly mileage is finally back to supporting 1000k. I'm hoping to be back to 3500 miles on the bike, too.

As an aside: get your colonoscopies if you have any oddball symptoms, even if you're well under 50. I was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer at 44. I've since learned of so many tragic stories of people in their 20s and 30s who were diagnosed too late to recover. My fitness couldn't protect me from the disease that killed my dad at nearly 70 (my brother has since had pre-cancerous polyps removed at 41, in spite of no known genetic explanation. It's almost certain that in the future a gene will be identified that will explain our "familial" ass cancer issues).

Getting the wind knocked out of you is the only way to

remind your lungs how much they like the taste of air.
