Thoughts on bicycle miles... (Read 231 times)

Okay, so this weekend I'm heading to the Horsey 100 and will hopefully ride 100 on Saturday and 70 on Sunday. What bothers me is that none of this counts toward my mileage goal! Last year I had a goal for running miles and for bike miles. I exceeded the running goal, but wasn't even close on bike miles. Thus, I gave up the bike miles goal for this year. So.. while I am sure this is going to be a lot of fun, I really look at biking as if it interfers with my running to some degree because of the no miles issue and the time it takes. So what I'm thinking about next year is perhaps having a higher overall goal where 1 running mile = 1 mile 4 biking miles = 1 mile Any suggestions or thoughts?

this can be a reference. http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=2865577&page=0 What make sense to me is, based on your average heart rate while riding, you can figure out what your pace should be at that heart rate while running, then times the pace by time you spend riding.
        Haha.. wow, there are some pretty angry people on that thread. :-) Then again, I found one post to it very useful in that it gave a link to.... http://www.stpetecycling.com/fitness6.html which says... Cycling Speed Calories Conversion M.P.H./ Cal. per mile/Divider 10 / 26 / 4.2 15 / 31 / 3.5 20 / 38 / 2.9 25 / 47 / 2.3 30 / 59 / 1.6 Thanks!!!

Good find, the speed based ratio sounds reasonable.
