Fantastic 20 kilometer long run this morning. Despite all my excessive peeing (really, like 12 times), pretty fast for a long run too. According to my Polar HRM I ran every 5 kilometers progressively faster. Amazing. Bridge inclines and dike inclines were no problem for me either today. I was even fartlekking in kilometer 17 and 18. I think I'm peaking a week early. Hope not. I'd like to PR next week.

      Jeff: Great run!

Eating my favorite pre long run meal - chicken soup - and just about to hit the road for the Valley and the race. Mother Nature had scheduled perfect weather 5-15º C. Thanks for the good wishes!

        Imminent Catastrophe

Had fun volunteering at the MMM today. I worked an aid station for awhile then sat at a trail intersection for several hours and made sure the runners didn't make a wrong turn. It was nice and peaceful.

Early, I was escorting another volunteer to the intersection and we came upon this friendly critter and two cubs (one is on the left behind a shrub):

"I'm a bear. Who the hell are you?"

The other one climbed a tree beside the trail, which was a problem because the runners were due any minute and the cub was up a tree on one side of the trail, and mama was on the other side, and you know what they say about getting between mama bear and cubs. Once she stood up and checked us out we retreated, and called the Park Ranger. When we returned the bears were gone. Anyway, it was a fun adventure and I really enjoyed the day.

Ayola - that's terrific!  you must be soooo happy with that. Look forward to hearing all about it.

Don't make excuses for why you can't get it done.

Focus on all the reasons why you must make it happen.

A - Congrats on the PR!  Looking forward to the race report.
