Wed -> 10K on the TM at 9.5K/h Thu -> 13K on the TM. Hard and fast. After 45 minutes @9.5K/h did the next 30 minutes @10K/h, playing with the incline at the same time. Never before did I run more than 10 minutes @10K/h. Incredible run. Today -> leg workout. Phew! will do core tonight. Trey: take it easy with the strain. You don't want to make it worse? Perfesser: I usually let life decide on the cut back weeks. But my new weight training program dictates a recovery week every 5th week. I'll just use that for running too. Heffa: come on, you can run outside.... I'm trying to catch that bunny, really.

    ...---...

Thanks Dutchie. Felt well enough to do a slow 5 miles yesterday. I consulted with a local sports medicine group earlier this week. Through them, and at the stern urging of my DW, I've got an appt with an Orthopaedic hip specialist next week. Wonder how much that will cost. Anyway, the persepective I've got to keep is: not doing any lasting or irreversible damage and getting on the right track to injury free running. I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't run...ya know? Weekend weather is going to be nice and warm so I'll really want to get out and run at some point.

Made it! 5 miles tonight put me ahead of the Bunny - Yaay!

Don't make excuses for why you can't get it done.

Fri -> LB w/o. Pretty tough, but doable. Sat -> a little sore in the outer thighs/ hips from yesterday's LB w/o. Did back/ triceps first this morning. Followed by 16 minutes af ob work. And finished with a 6.4K doggie fun run. Both doggies stayed on leash for the entire run. Both were pulling me along for the first 4K which we ran pretty fast (26:54 min) considering Spike was along and despite 5xdoggie business. The next kilometer was slower cause I stopped to let a car pass. And the last nearly 1500 meters Spike dragged behind as usual. He always does that. No matter whether we run a short 3K loop or a big 10K loop. It's like he knows we're on our way home and he doesn't want to go....

Finished up the week with 31.8 total, doing a 10.5 mile trail run today. It should be uploaded as a public map here. Great run, but took a long time. Although I've run in this park before, I did a different loop than I normally do, and there are lots of trails branching off, so I stopped to check the map a bunch. Plus, it was muddy, muddy, muddy. Did I mention it was muddy? Really slowed me down on the some hills, where the trails had turned into creekbeds, and on a couple of low spots where there was no choice but to go through the mud bogs I got the shoes sucked right off my feet! Big grin I was quite covered in mud by the time I was done, but, really, it was a blast.

            ...---...

10 miles today - screw the hip. What a beautiful day. Run time it was about 70 degrees, 75 by the end. Shower, flip flops, shorts and cold beer on the porch. Gonna do something on the grill later this evening. Hip issues are still there but it doesn't appear to be getting worse...just not getting much better. Anyway, felt like I could have done 20 today if I had to. Interesting in that the hip groin area seems to be bothered by down hills and the flats but some relief going up inclines. Weird. Shortening my stride has made a noticable difference all around. Bring on that marathon! 3 weeks to go. Have a good weekend all.

              Imminent Catastrophe

Anne--that trail run looks like a blast! I plan to start trail running again, we have some nice trails near here (including the Appalachian Trail) and a nice park with mountain biking trails. I miss that. Trey--sounds like you're going to be OK! Dutchie--how on earth do you have the energy to do all that working out? I can barely do my running. As for me, I've been on the road so no running since my 12-miler Wednesday. MTA: Silver Comet 10k this Saturday, it's a really well-done race and one of my favorites. You get a nice heavyweight longsleeve T in your choice of color, and they have really good finish line food including mini-bison burgers from Ted Turner's restaurant. Yum!

First 20K@9.0K/h were great. Although I was on the TM, I was visuallising a 20K loop I've done often. I increased the incline when I was supposed to run a bridge, or up the dike. Even the last bridge that I always take on in the last 500 meters of my run was in there. I was smiling for most of the run. Last 3K/20 minutes were tough mentally. I started to get bored and it got hard. so for those last 20 minutes I played with my speed: 60sec@9.0K/h 60sec@9.5K/h 60sec@10K/h That helped. Perfesser: I do my workouts early mornings and that's when I'm at my best. I make sure most food I eat has a high nutritional value giving me plenty energy. I get 7 ours of sleep most nights.. Plus I'm not 50 yet Clowning around ETA: made it to the first page of YTD for now. And only 15.4K behind the bunny Big grin I'll catch that pink beast sometime this month Evil grin

Happyfeat/Dutchie - Great work on the Bunny! Anne - That run sounded like fun. I did a 14 mile marathon pace run today, I managed to do 7:40's. I'm still feeling a little under the weather but I don't think it slowed me down much. I'm just happy to get the sickness over with before the race. Two weeks to go!!!

Yes, I will be doing Shamrock. I ran it two years ago as my first marathon. Did the half last year.
