Imminent Catastrophe

Happy, I'm doing it all. I'll shoot the start, then around the 3.5-mile point, then the finish. It's going to be an all-day thing. What a great way to spend my birthday!

The 3.5-mile point is by the "mysterious" wall (hence the name, Mystery Mountain). It's a stone wall built by native tribes hundreds of years before the European immigration and nobody knows what the wall was built for.

Heffa, sub-20 for a 5k? I've never done that and I'm pretty sure that my heart would have exploded if I'd tried!

Crabby, Nitro is a great name!

Phibes, stick in there and run the Monkey! I'm marginal too, we can do it! I haven't done Stump Jump but I know that it's a tough run with rocky/rooty trails.

.  Russ: have you ever run the StumpJump 50K?  I've been thinking about a long trail race for next fall and that's an obvious choice since its close by, but I'm wondering if there are some easier options out there.

There's also the Mystery Mountain Marathon that I helped out with today. It's not an ultra but might as well be, it's really tough.

It was a beautiful Fall day, a nice way to spend a day in the woods taking photos. I now have 400 images to sort through!

and hi Crabby - good to hear from you.

Warm and beautiful weekend after the rain ... ran a couple of one hour runs (one fast - a little faster than HM pace, one slow). Its turkey day here - I'm going into a quiet office for a bit and the husband is making swedish meatballs for me and a few friends. Perfect day.

Yesterday I ran 4 on this trail out to the beach that I haven't been on in a long time.  Opens up to a large meadow.  Nitro ran circles around me as did my daughter and friend but I am just glad to be running without knee pain.

While we weren't watching, HappyFeat quietly crossed the 1243 mile line (looks like it happened on Saturday). Congratulations Happy! What next? 1500?

You're right! I WAS quiet - sooo quiet that I didn't even realize it!  Well if you don't mind, I'm sticking with this group.

I'm on track for beating the 1500 mile Bunny, but we all know how quickly things can change; so I'm not worrying about that goal too much right now. My plan is to resume the training plan I worked out and continue to work on tempo runs.

I signed up for a hilly 12K Trail Run on October 30th. So I'll be running my rolling hills route on Saturdays til then so I can be prepared.  I'm not viewing it as a "race" which should take some of the pressure/nerves out of it.

Crabby, I'm so glad your knee is healed and you can get back out on the trails you love.

Sounds like you're having a stellar holiday weekend, Ayola.

Well, lunch hour is about over and my time is about up.

crabby - good to have you back

happy - congrats on reaching the 2,000,000m mark.  My distance is finally catching up a little bit, as a matter of fact I think I may have passed somebody.....come on Ayola, lets catch the bunny together.

I had another relatively successful long run of 16 today.  I planned to go just a little shorter since I ran hard Saturday and that worked out for the best.  The whole distance I felt pretty flat.  I still did the distance and the speed I wanted, it just didn't feel very good.

I will not catch up with the mileage of this goup but I am enjoying reading of your >10 mile escapades. Today I ran 4 and walked 2 looking for Nitro who must have run12.  At least one of us is getting long fast runs in.

Crabby, how old is Nitro? I missed it if you already said.  Sounds like a young dog - so full of energy! Post a photo when you can - would love to see.

                            Happy Birthday Russ

Congrats on the 2000km Happy.  NZRun must be next across the line?

Looks like everyone else has started to pick it up a bit.  Keep it up Heffa and Ayola. Brian....you will probably be past me again shortly

Me, I have just been taking it easy doing a few 8 - 12 km runs a week.

Trying to pick up my pace a bit before moving back into some longer runs.

Bit distracted down this end of the world at the moment with the Rugby World Cup on, so a bit too much sitting on the couch drinking beer Smile

Has been a real mild spring as well which has made for some good running when I have got out.  Also meant I have to spend a lot of the weekend mowing lawns and catching up on all those jobs around the house that I always seems to put off....

                            Have a good week all.

                            Imminent Catastrophe

18 mile long run today at Chickamauga Military Park, one of my favorite places for a road long run among the Civil War monuments and cannons. And it's quiet, with little traffic. Saw a coyote and some deer (that must sound really lame to Crabby). Anyway it's my longest run since May and went well, everything seems to be in working order.

                              Yay Happy!
