Merry Christmas.
Oddly enough though, not even the local library’s famed information Lline could identify any Merry Christmas signage in Seattle for background photos this year. Tthey said maybe a professional portrait photographer might have a Merry Christmas backdrop. In the meantime, there were plenty of ‘em commercializing all over Japan this month. Any in any other towns?

zola completed the NYC marathon in 2:59:53 last year after a 3:10 IN 2007 in South Africa and sugar fizzle at mile 24 in her inaugural marathon in London in 2003.
Just the opposite of an increasing number of runners who do a little training barefoot but race shod, she said in a NYTimes interview that
Did the article you saw in Runner's World say anything about the possible marathon this fall she has also mentioned?

don't know all the details but Zola Budd was entered in last year's Halloween Pumpkin Push up here last year too. Maybe you can come up sometime.

Ultra-Paul at mile 18 heading for 14 mile ascent up Mt. Spokane in 2007 flanked by butterfly wings and thongs.
It was a DNF for me at mile 30 to get back to Seattle for the next day's Seafair Marathon but just another marathon distance for Ulta-Paul on his way to what-would-have-been 1,000 this fall or so.
shinnen omedetou gozaimasu started the year as in many years past wtih run around the Imperial Palace 5K circuit but a lot slower than before to say nothing of ever thinking of doing it barefoot or in Japanese wooden geta in those days so probably had more fun this time. Got a lot of smiles anyway even from the Palace Guards busy preparing the grounds for the Emporer's annual New Year's greeting to the people. would have been better with a dea though. 3.2 miles (YTD - 3.2 miles) 1/01(BF) - Resolution Run and Lake Washington plunge - 3.2 miles (26:14 - 28:16 / 8:50) January totals . . . "People ask why I run. I say, 'If you have to ask, you will never understand'. It is something only those select few know. Those who put themselves through pain, but know, deep down, how good it really feels." - Erin Leonard
I have a hard time even imagining that some people would need to run more than 1 marathon a year.
Last month, after returning from an eight-mile run, Tsuyoshi Yoshino heated up a three-inch sewing needle until it turned bright red. Then, he says, he plunged the glowing instrument into the ball of his foot, puncturing a three-inch-long blister.
