          Smaller By The Day

I'm going to say this without a single ounce of guilt.

I'm taking the month off from goals.

I'll do plenty of running, but hopefully I'll be enjoying the weather.  Goals will be reinstated after my wedding in May.  Yes, I'm racing next weekend, but I don't really have a goal.  I've never raced a 10K before.  I might even go out like it's a 5K, and just see if I can hold on.  I'm sure that sounds like hell to most people, but damn...what if it works?  I'd have to question every race I ever ran.  Could be an interesting experiment.  Who knows?  Not the most important thing to me right now.

Starting today is two weeks of taper for me (but with a 3x1600m @ 5k pace run next Thursday, which is the one workout I hate the most at the end of a looong training cycle... :-( )

I have been going back and forth regarding my goal for Boston. I have a grand goal for 2013, but my coach doesn't think I'm there yet. So I think I'll do like LTH and just enjoy Boston as a celebration of running in general. I got in the Chicago marathon (received confirmation today!) and I think I'll make that my goal race for the year 2013. After Boston, I have one, possibly two, more marathon(s), so it will be a quick recovery and back to a lighter training schedule.

I smiled at your #1 goal.  My pace bunny is the devil right now, since I was off for so long at the beginning of the year.  I think one of my April goals should be not to look at the bugger!

Slow and steady wins the....  wait a second! I've been lied to!
