Return To Racing
The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)
Happy National Ice Cream Day (tomorrow). Today is Caviar Day, but I'll take a pass.
Couldn't convince DW to run early before it really gets hot, so we will run inside again.
Have a great weekend and stay cool !!!
Morning. I have 6 miles some time today.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

Amazonian Princess
Six done with the group and I was talked into signing up for a 5k on August 1st and a 10k on August 29th.
Gonna hit the shower then teach my pillow who's boss
I can. I will. I am.
Penguin Power!
Hi pens. Today I ran 5.1 miles with dh. He took a break in the middle while I ran around the tulleries. We did a lot of touristy stuff today as well so I walked about 35k steps. Tomorrow I'm scheduled for 8 miles or so. Marathon training while on vacation isn't terrible so far though my feet are certainly much more sore than usual.
Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

Morgan Valley 10K today: I'll get a recap up later, but it went very well. 59:46 which is a 41 second PR. Still not feeling 100%, but feeling a lot more confident that I can get faster once I get the health issues sorted out.
Got a fudgesicle afterward.
Hey, another running blog.
emmbee - congratulations on the PR. Doing that in the summer is really hard work.
sapf - Good job keeping up with your training, despite being on vacation.
Jerry - cool down? Send it our way please.
DR - I hope the six went well.
Lauren - that's a long time in a pool. Good work.
PAd - nice 5.
Baconista - two races in August - good luck. I can barely run outside in the summer, much less race.
We're back early from our backpack trip. DH was hurting and not having fun, so we cut it short. We still managed to hike 25 miles or so. I enjoyed myself. We saw lots of deer, hawks and one baby black bear. Ben enjoyed everything but last night's humongous thunderstorm.
Emmbee, congrats on the PR. Summer racing is hard!
I had a miserable day at work. We were broke down doing maintenance stuff probably 7 of my 12 hours. I think I sweated four wheel barrows full. I tried to stay hydrated with 9 bottles of water, 3 Gatorades, 14 Squencher ice pops. When i got home, did 8 miles with 5 of them in the 8:40 range.
Congrats on the 10K, PR, Emmbee.
Can't believe you ran at all after that awful day, Mitch. Really put those running hydration skills to good use.
Good luck Sunday racers.
Afternoon all! I got my run in earlier today and I am now just relaxing. I think DH is sore and tired from yesterday's run because he's napping now - it is 3pm in Paris. I suppose that I should wake him up but he seems so peaceful. In any event I think today will be relatively low key - our museum pass expired yesterday so no more multiple museums per day craziness
