Singer who runs a smidge
The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)
When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run. The only thing that matters is how we have loved.
Today is National Workplace Napping Day, and I could sure use one! DH and I were out a little late on Saturday -- we went to see Celtibillies, a group that plays Celtic and Appalachian music. Not a big, professional, concert, but just a little folk group, and we had a lovely time. Then we lost an hour of sleep with Daylight Savings Time, and Sunday afternoon was a Brazen Tarts (quartet) dress rehearsal, so I lost my nap opportunity. I didn't realize I was so sleepy, but the commute this morning made me aware!! So yeah, possibly a power nap this afternoon. Woo-hoo!!
Oh, I wish I can nap! Still WFH, so maybe? Although I have been awake since 5am, you would think it was fall back and not spring forward, grrrr.
I have 4 and weights tonight.
HopesMom, sounds interesting (the concert).

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

HM - sounds like it could be a fun concert. I like both Celtic and bluegrass. Enjoy your rehearsal.
D - enjoy your light day.
No need for a nap today. I slept over 10 hours last night, making up for Saturday's short sleep. It's a rest day for me, thank God. My legs are tight, so I'll probably do some yoga later.
Mmm, yoga!!
Afternoon! Ran outside last night and it was so windy, my throat was swollen. This morning it was still super windy but not that bad. 6 with 6 X 100m done this morning. Pilates later.
Ginny, hoping you got the yoga done.
HopesMom, hiya.
No yoga yesterday. We went to Hagerstown to a used bookstore and somehow the whole afternoon disappeared. I didn't manage to clean the house either. Oh well.
Today I have 8 miles, with intervals. It's really blustery outside, so I will probably do those on the TM later. I'm still trying to warm up from walking Ben. (It was 34 feels like 22. Brrr.)
I've fallen down the used bookstore rabbit hole many a time. And climbed back out with less money in my pocket, for sure!!
I left abruptly yesterday when my tech's wife called to inform us it was pouring snow (no windows in the lab) and we should go home. It was awfully nice to be home at 5:30 instead of 6:45, and once I got out of Richmond there wasn't much snow at all, so the drive home wasn't bad. Was hoping for a delay this morning, but no such luck. Woo-hoo!
Morning! Woke up tired and with a slight migraine. I have 7 and OTF tonight. Lunch made my headache feel better, so there is that.
Work is currently much like banging my head on a brick wall. It's annoying me.
People or machines?
Both?
Machines, mostly. I need to fractionate some samples, but I'm having a lot of problems doing it on-line. So I purchased some spin columns to do it off-line, we'll see how that works. It's just a pain. And I'm tired. Need my weekend!!
Afternoon! I have 13 miles and Pilates today. Sigh.
Why sigh?
I had an easy 5.8 with strides. Another blustery day with intermittent snow showers, but I never got wet on either the morning walk or afternoon run.
