Beginners and Beyond

Thursday Penguins are still seeing winter (Read 11 times)

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

After a couple of warm springlike days, we're back to freezing temps. with a feels like in the teens.  Snow flurries too, though I doubt anything will stick.  Of course, this weekend we'll be up in the 60s.  Crazy.  I have 5 later. Given the 20 mph wind, I may just stick to the TM.

Amen to this!!  It's cold out there!  Quartet rehearsal got cancelled last night because one of the ladies is in a snit.  This is not a new thing (as y'all know), and it's getting on my nerves.

Chorus rehearsal tonight, which will hopefully be snit-free!!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

NOt down here.  High of 88F.

Afternoon!  I ran at PT, I ran at PT!  It was only 12 minutes and 0.70 miles of 2:2 intervals but yay.  Pilates and maybe a bike ride tonight.  Or a run.  Ha.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

HM - is it the same woman?

              D - Hurray!

I did intervals on the TM, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 minute at approximately 5 k pace with 2 minute recoveries.  Since I haven't done a 5k in about 3 years, I'm not sure it still applies, but it was faster than I'm used to running, so a good start. The pace is based on a HM from 2 years ago.

Standard Oregon winter weather. "Atmospheric river" type rain. It is 52 degrees though, which is nice.

The bruise is now a black eye. Pic in the other thread. I think it's got a couple of days more to look worse, too, because my forehead is still pretty swollen.
