Wednesday Penguins remember Pearl Harbor (Read 13 times)

Singer who runs a smidge

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

And while we're at it, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of our service men and women!!  Not that I really expect them to drop into the Penguin thread, but hey, our appreciation is out there in the universe!!

Our quartet isn't practicing in December, since we have a million and one gigs, so I get to go home to DH tonight.  Woo-hoo!!  I tweaked my knee pretty severely on Sunday (I think it was singing for an hour on a steep slanted surface) and it's not all better yet, but it's enough better that I think I'll attempt some office yoga this afternoon.  Woo-hoo!!

HopesMom - I hope the knee enjoys the yoga.  Walking might help loosen the muscles as well.  Enjoy the time with your husband.

AFM:  There is a little sunshine out there, so after Ben gets his belated walk, I'll do some running miles.  I took a rest day yesterday to clean the house and talk to my WWII veteran father in Houston.  At 92, he and his wife go to the gym in their Senior complex 3 days a week. You're never too old to get started, I guess.

Afternoon!  Been in court (same old, same old, LOL).  Didn't run yesterday so Pilates and 7 miles tonight.

HopeMom, hope the knee is better.

Ginny, hope you got to run.

          Barking Mad To Run

If you ever get a chance to go to Hawaii, go visit the Arizona Memorial.  A very moving exhibit, you definitely will not have dry eyes out there. I lived in Hawaii for 4 years during my military service time and visited it often, especially on Pearl Harbor Day...lots of military and remembrance ceremonies on that day particularly.   Honor and remember the WWII vets today, men and women, they really did save the world.

I can't believe I am turning into a morning runner now, lol.  Used to hate running in the mornings - except for races, and during Texas summer when you pretty much have to run most of the time in the morning because of the extreme heat in the afternoon - but now I find myself getting up early on my running days and getting out there in the morning, like around 6 a.m. or so.   Had really good running yesterday and then this morning again, felt pretty strong both runs, and felt good after, like I could have gone a tad farther.   This morning it was a bit brisk for we South Texans - when i ran, it was  43 degrees, with a 'feels like' of 40 - but I felt good as long as I kept moving.   The only bad part of the run - I ran into a Post Office mail delivery truck (it was parked)....duhhh..not paying attention..  the driver, thankfully, did not charge me postage due after I 'stamped' onto his vehicle...

You've lengthened the list of "weird stuff Scottydog has run into"!!

Pretty sure the knee does not want any extended walking.  Yesterday I was limping pretty seriously, so I'm not wanting to push things.  Gentle stretching for me!

LOL.  Scotty just reminded me of Wayne's World and that girl that kept running into things while yelling, Hi, Wayne!

Only you Scott!  Do you keep a list of all the odd things you've run into?

I had a nice 8.8 mile run this afternoon. Mostly sunny, wind and sun at my back, 45 degrees. It was a good one. I'm feeling a lot more like myself these days. I think the iron pills are working.
