Misaunter Monday Penguins (Read 29 times)

Barking Mad To Run

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the caommon benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

    Return To Racing

Morning Scotty !!!  You just beat me as I was looking up a clever Monday title.

5 planned after work.  Probably on the merry go round.

        Misaunter:  Misadventure or Mishap

In honor of the Dallas Cowboy for their game yesterday.  How 'bout dem Cowboys?  Blew a 26-3 halftime lead and let the Green Bay Packers overcome!  Yeah, baby!  I loved it!  banana emoticon

Hopefully none of our Penguins had a misaunter weekend.  AFM, my 73rd  5K done on Saturday morning, another jingle bell run that was lots of fun, and very costumely colorful:  http://www.runningahead.com/groups/BF_and_Beyond/forum/be6eb5944bb04126ad7769de2bbae2f0/resume#focus

Followed that up by sleeping in for a while on Sunday and then heading to Fort Sam Houston about noon.   Weather was lovely!  Bright sunshine, blue skies, 62 degrees.  I did my "Dog Alley" route, ending up with 3.4 miles, and playing with and giving treats to all my doggie pals along the way.  Very nice outing.   Today is a rest day, but I may go for a walk after work, as my doc wants me to walk some on my non-running days to help keep my back strong, and walking is very good for the lower back.

I have a 4-day work-week this week. Friday, Gail and I both have the day off, nice.  Saturday I will be going to Austin to do the Marine Corps Toys for Tots 5K at Camp Mabry.  And this looks like a really nice weather week for some running around here, nice....

          Sneaking in to say HI!

Scotty, that looks like wonderful weather.  We will have snow, cold, and icy patches on the road.

I did 4 miles on the TM yesterday, but hope to get outside tonight after work.

Morning!  7 with strides tonight.  Trixie is back at the vet for a follow up lab test and possible biopsy. She tried to run when she saw the carrier which is good news.  But she still has not slept with mommy (although the traitor jumped on hubby's lap while we were watching TV last night).

            Scotty, jealous of your weather.

            Jerry, enjoy the 5.

            Phillie, nice 4.

            on my way to badass

Damaris-  That is very good news about Trixie!

Phillie- Good job on the TM!

              Scotty- interesting weather.

              Jerry- enjoy your 5.

AFM- I'm going out in search my mojo.  3 miles on the road maybe.  There is very little shoulder because of all the snow.  My trail was packed down by the neighbor kid on his snowmobile. Yaktrax may be in order.

Good morning!  No misaunters here!  Finally got to run outside after more than a week on the TM because of ice.  People are just now getting their lights up for the same reason, so there was lots to look at.  Plus we took our annual shopping trip to Portland.

We decided to take Zoe for a second opinion about her back.  SIL knows a good vet in her area, so we scheduled an appointment for a consult when we're up there after Christmas.  No point jumping into surgery if we're not sure that's what she needs.

Jerry- Did you think of a good title?  Enjoy the merry go round!

Scotty- I'll take some of that weather up here!  Although it is back into the 40s for us, which is just fine for running.

Margo- Hope you are able to get outside today!

D- Hoping for good news about Trixie!

                      StoneFence- Go get that mojo!

Jack- The suspense continues.  When will he run again?

Bin- 2013?  I guess it was a good year for me, I'd do it over again.

Kristin- Hoping your boot does OK on the ice for you!

                        Hello penguins!

it's been a few days since I have been able to run. my 3 little ones are sick with the cough from HELL. can't take them to the gym when they are coughing like this and they are not sleeping well which means I'm not sleeping well. Ugh!  Doc appt at 3:45 today.

We also have some fantastic weather on the way. Sunny and 50-60 degrees all week

                            Hello all.

I am going to try to run again tonight. My goal is to do 2 miles tonight, but I don't think it is going to happen. No pain in the knee, but it still doesn't like moving sideways. Progress in healing seems to have stalled out.

Happy Monday everyone! I just have to make it until the end of Friday. Then I have 12 paid holiday days off! Woohoo!

I usually run on Mondays but I'm playing with a friend instead. I'll run tomorrow. Probably okay, since I'm having day 2 soreness from my Saturday snow run: feeling those hip flexors!

                              Singer who runs a smidge

Morning, Penguins!!  I had an interesting weekend, as I spent a lot of Saturday wrapping presents and baking cookies to take down to my folks in NC for Christmas.  But on Sunday, we came home from church to find That Dog had broken into the kitchen and eaten most of the cookies, and pulled the presents onto the floor, ripped off the wrapping paper, and chewed on the boxes.  He was laying on the floor amid the carnage looking all proud of himself until I descended upon him with much righteous wrath!
And then I had my chorus Christmas party, so I got happy again.  And I rewrapped the presents when I got home, but I'm not sure if I'm going to make more cookies.

                                Jerryb -- enjoy the merry-go-round!!

Scotty -- yeah, I think my weekend qualifies as a misaunter!!

Phillie -- hope you can get outside!!

Docket -- hope the biopsy gives you answers and good news!!

Stone -- hope you find some mojo!!

Jack -- enjoy your continued rest!!

Bin -- hope you make your goal!!

kristin -- have a good RD!!

Zelanie -- sounds like a nice weekend!!

traci -- hope your kids feel better!!

Dan -- I hate that feeling, when you're just not getting better.

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.
