Trying New Things Thursday Penguins (Read 15 times)

Penguin Power!

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

    Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

Hmmm.. maybe not "new" - but I'll be running to/from the Y and doing a spin class.  I think the last time I did a spin class was over 5 years ago.  It should be interesting.  I'm debating bringing my cycling shoes since they are compatible with the spin bikes.  I don't want to seem like I know what I'm doing though because it has been years =P  Then again, I guess I don't want to screw up my running shoes.

What's everyone else up to today?

PS - winter came back today :-(

Jill, bring the cycling shoes!  This is a perfect opportunity to bust them out!

I will be a curmudgeon today and just do my regular.  2 jobs, then run my tempo run.  I guess trying something new would be to get home and get right out there to run rather than put it off for a couple of hours until I bail or end up running really late.

Morning!  I ran 6 on the TM this morning. Pilate and maybe weights.

          Singer who runs a smidge

Morning, Penguins!!  My secondary air handler blew up yesterday, and since the primary one is also offline, that meant shutting down all my instruments.  So I shut down one yesterday and one this morning, and now I'm waiting for the heat to dissipate a little.  I'll take a walk today, because I don't have a lot of work to do without instruments.  And I brought the library book I need to finish this week.  Ah well.  Chorus rehearsal tonight!!

Jill -- hope the class is fun!!

            Zelanie -- woo-hoo for curmudgeonliness!!

Docket -- have a good Pilates and possible weights!!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

New things:  We had some roasted butternut squash in the fridge, so I tossed it into my salad.

Verdict:  Not the best idea I've had.

Got my walk in.  Which, all things considered, is a new thing for me!

Mmm, I've been cooking some new (to me) recipes for dinner lately, but I don't feel like cooking toady so we will either have leftovers or go out for dinner. So nothing new happening here today.

Jill, I vote for using your cycling shoes. I always wear mine in spin class.

Just  a quick three-mile run for me today.

Since Jill said to try new things, I just chopped all my hair.  It's been at least 3 years since I have had it this short.  I missed it.

Hope, yay for doing the walk.

Margo, I usually do not feel like cooking or making anything either.
