Question on Increasing Monthly Mileage (Read 42 times)

Okay, it is September 23rd, we've got 7 more days of September and I've got 4 more days of running. If I keep up with my training plan that will end September with 119.8 (part of me wants to put an extra .2 somewhere in there) while last month was 103 miles, is that too huge of an increase? Am I asking for an injury, should I decrease a couple of my runs or should I be okay as long as I just take it easy on the days I don't run? What do ya'll think?

That's about 20%, and about the same as the increase you did from June -> July.  Any issues from that jump?

If not, and you are feeling good, I think you're probably ok.

Hmm.. didn't think about that lol, no I had no issues then either. I honestly don't  know where the extra 9 or so miles came from because when I had planned September out I had estimated 110 miles....... of course I have done 2 2-3 mile trail runs due to beautiful weather, I might have added a few .2's or .3's to runs.......... just weird because I was not expecting 119 miles lol.

Nope, not too big a jump at all.  If you were following the 10% rule (yes, I realize the 10% 'rule' is a terrible guideline) you'd be increasing by much more than 20% a month.  What's most important is how you're feeling, but I agree with Oski-- as long as you are feeling OK that's a very reasonable increase.
