Total eclipse of the Monday Penguins! (Read 9 times)

Singer who runs a smidge

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

Not that I'm in totality, mind you.  We're something like 88%.  I have a friend who teaches in Georgia, they had to cancel classes because of the mobs of people expected in their town.  And we have family in Oregon who say there are gas lines because so many people have descended on their town.

I do have my glasses (by one of the NASA-approved manufacturers), so I will pop out now and then to see how things are going.  Should be fun!

Oh, and I walked with DH and Dusty this morning.  There was panting and sweating for all involved!

They cancelled school in most of the area here, not because we're getting totality, (we'll be about 80%) but because the schools didn't want to be held responsible if any kids disobeyed orders and looked directly at the sun.  CYA essentially.

Hot and humid here. I'm hoping to go for a walk or run with Jim and Ben in the mountains this afternoon, but it depends on how muggy it feels.

Hi, landed in NY. Glad I am missing all that hoopla.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

Not much hoopla here.  I can go out on my "back porch" (aka loading dock) and see the eclipse.  Nobody else watching.  Though there is an eclipse party going on over at the student commons, but I'm skipping the festivities.  15 minutes from max, which for us won't be total.  It's all good.

MTA:  This also means I can pop in and out of the AC for my viewing pleasure!

It's definitely weird/dim light out, and our solar panels aren't collecting much.  Too cool!!

I saw it. Do I get a prize?

We watched the live NASA feed, so saw 5 total eclipses; a couple were slightly different based on the cameras. We also went out back and looked via cereal box viewer and paper with a pinhole projecting on a white kitchen bag. We had about 75-80%

No run today. DP in the 70s meant it was not all that appealing to go for a hike and we wanted to see the eclipse first so it was pretty warm by the time it was done. The eclipse cool down didn't last very long. We ended up mowing the lawn instead.
