Once again, we have a case of a male runner who can't accept that a female is about to beat him to the finish line. Typical...

It couldn't have involved LTH - this was a full marathon. Maybe his cousin LTF. Or WTF.... Smile

Weird.  When I click it, it takes me to the photos.  Perhaps because I searched them once.

Anywho, maybe try here, pick Philly Marathon and bib 5971.  I got that link from Google, so I hope it links properly this time.

It was funny to serious in the series.

Well, I guess it's all a matter of perspective.  I see a young chick who can't stand to see an old fart beat her to the finish line and sprints that last 5 meters.  Ha!

I wouldn't call myself a young chick, but I had my own lesson in humility in my first marathon, when I saw a picture of myself about to cross the finish line, sandwiched between what looks like a much older man than me and a woman walking. That was hard on the ego. Big grin

What the hell is a "full" marathon?

My first 5k years ago I had a goal of beating 24. As I turned the corner for the last 100 yards I saw the clock was 23 something so I knew I could do it, and kept my eyes on the clock. When I walked through the chute I said out loud that the time wasn't bad. 2 people up a woman in her 60's said the same thing. Had I known she was ahead I would have sprinted to at least pass her.

Last year I finished a 5k and the picture has me running with 2 little kids to my wife's amusement.

At a HM I ran last May my darling daughter amused herself while waiting for me at the finish line by taking pictures of everyone that, in her opinion, I should have finished ahead of. Lots of really old and overweight people are faster than me.

My first race of last year, a March 5k(my son is doing the kids one miler this year((yay!)) so no repeat "performance" is ahead for me), I thought I was just cruising and doing great and the this big old fat guy with a kegger belly, purple basketball shorts, tan polo shirt, lawn mowing shoes(I swear, they were mostly lawn grass stained green!) and backwards John Deere hat comes running by me like I am standing still.

                                Ta hell was that????!!!!

At first(okay, still...) it was ego deflating but then I though "How awesome for him to be so fit like that and just burn it!"

Sometimes life surprises you in unexpected ways. Roll with it(or in the Philly pic.....DUCK!)
